Camrysfa Turbocharged May 8, 2015 Share May 8, 2015 ha, wifey likes to go cold places, me not! Next week, 15/5 - 22/5 will be in NZ South Island. been checking the net, temp seems to be around 13 deg C average. But tour guide says it will drop below 10. I mostly only have tropical T shirts. Bringing a heavy jacket bought for China (snowing) trip. Sheesh, the bulk is a hassle.

Heavy jacket keep at home lah. 10 deg no need to use.

Pinobii Hypersonic May 9, 2015 Share May 9, 2015 Due to our tropical weather, usually we are not used to the cold weather especially anything under 10 This is what I usually have Scarf to wrap around the neck, this is very effective especially when there's wind Long sleeve t-sleeve or short sleeve t-shirt with a fleece like jacket If the temp goes minus, I will have these for sure 1. Either a down jacket or a vest, depending on how cold it is 2. A headgear, those that can pull and over your ears especially if you are going to mountains or staying outdoors for extended period of time 3. May need to wear inner wear, usually I skip the top as the down jacket will be sufficient but will wear another layer for bottoms to protect legs 4. Socks - get those woolen ones as they are warmer Uniqlo is a good place to shop if you need to buy any winter wear, cheap and good Have a very nice holiday!
Jamesc Hypersonic May 9, 2015 Share May 9, 2015 The temp is not problem. Last year I went to NZ, the wind was 100 mph. You would think NZ is some islands in the middle of the ocean. The plane had a problem landing and a few planes were diverted to Auckland from Wellington. Hard to walk on the street with the constant wind.
Lala81 Hypersonic September 7, 2016 Share September 7, 2016 (edited) Going seoul in March next year. Should be sub 10 degree or up to 12-13 degrees mostly. Only reach zero at nights bah. Us adults, I'm not concerned but those with kids, what do you get them to wear? Double T-shirt layer with a fleece jacket? Us adults, I'm not concerned but those with kids, what do you get them to wear? Double T-shirt layer with a fleece jacket? Fleece jacket not enough for kids. Need down jacket as kids can't get use to change temperature as easily as adult. Wait till December. Uniqlo has very good selection of down jacket. If not enough, go to SPAO in Myeongdong to get addition clothing.

Uniqlo has very good selection of down jacket. If not enough, go to SPAO in Myeongdong to get addition clothing. Uniqlo can settle everything. Make sure they wear thermal wear and prepare heat packs (but please don't buy those cheap Daiso ones, proper ones last much longer). The last time I went Korea temp was 15 - 0 with some wind to strong winds, got sun don't feel cold. So other than trapping body heat, you need to generate heat to limbs. You doctor, you know more than me.

Ender Hypersonic September 7, 2016 Share September 7, 2016 This sub 10 really neither here or there. Bring normal jacket. sweater may not be enough. Bring those northface, hiking jacket, seems overkill and takes too much luggage space. Sorry not much help.

StefanK Supercharged September 7, 2016 Share September 7, 2016 Thanks! Thermal packs? Think no need until so jialat bah. Thermal packs are good for these not here not there temperatures. Funny enough, I did not use it in Switzerland high up in Jungfrauhjoch, but I used it in Korea and most recently, the rainy cold weather in Taiwan. The core might be warm but it's the hands and feet that makes one feel cold.
Mockngbrd Supersonic September 7, 2016 Share September 7, 2016 Oh yes, Uniqlo heat-tech. Get the extra warm type. (got 2 types) If still feel cold, wear double layers of heat-tech. i wear double layer heat-tech in negative to 5-10 temps and just a shirt n jacket outside. Works great.

Us adults, I'm not concerned but those with kids, what do you get them to wear? Double T-shirt layer with a fleece jacket? Better keep the young ones warm. Probably one set of warm inner wear, then long sleeves attire, then at night or when windy, get them wear jacket. When go into heated environment, just need to take out jacket. ↡ Advertisement
