Jamessoh Neutral Newbie July 29, 2012 Share July 29, 2012 hello, this may sound silly. i own a singtel miotv. i want to record some TV programs but learn that the miotv dvr could only serve as a storage but when i asked the singtel technician, he said that it is not possible to say download the programs to a DVD or CD or a thumbdrive. but could some tech savvy person kindly advise me how to record and store recorded programs on a DVD or CD? If I buy another DVR device, would this solve the problem? thanks in advance. ↡ Advertisement

Jamessoh Neutral Newbie July 29, 2012 Author Share July 29, 2012 yes it does, but it does not allow the information stored to be uploaded elsewhere how do you guys, using mio or starhub tv record your favourite movies on dvd or cd?
Mobile1 1st Gear July 29, 2012 Share July 29, 2012 Not possible! Copyright issue.. Must record and view from the box only.

Well the only think i can think of is to open up the mio box...take out the HDD and use an adapter to hook it up to your PC. Otherwise a DVD recorder might to the job though I'm not sure if the mio box sends out copyrighted signals to prevent the DVD recorder from recording the video from the mio box. I usually get my TV shows off the net so cable TV is kinda irrelevant to me.

Pocus Turbocharged July 29, 2012 Share July 29, 2012 Well the only think i can think of is to open up the mio box...take out the HDD and use an adapter to hook it up to your PC. ... It will be a fruitless attempt. Don't expect the movie to be convienently stored in AVI or MP4 format.... it's encrypted....

Happily1986 5th Gear July 29, 2012 Share July 29, 2012 eh, i just went to FAQs and i saw that DVR IS possible if and ONLY IF your Set Top Box comes with the DVR feature. Apparently, you can only record FTA channels and broadcasts channels that you are subscribed to. That excludes Video On Demand titles. FAQs

Adrianli Hypersonic July 30, 2012 Share July 30, 2012 U can extract the recorded show. Do it like me. Mio TV set-top box has two output, one HDMI and one RCA. My Pioneer HDD DVR recorded has RCA input. So what I do is connect the Mio TV set-top box to my Pioneer HDD DVR thru the RCA connection. Just press play on the Mio TV set-top box and press record on my Pioneer HDD DVR. Once finish recording, stop it and can edit the whole video on the Pioneer HDD DVR before burning it on a DVD and watch it on a regular DVD player. Both my Starhub and Mio TV set-top box are connected to my Pioneer HDD DVR. Thatz how I record and watch it on the go if I travelling overseas. Just recorded Hungary F1 last nite and can watch all the action again. During live recording on the Pioneer HDD DVR, u can pause the recording, go toilet and then using time-shifting, chase play while it is still recording the live program. No need to worry abt missing the interesting parts. ↡ Advertisement
