Cracker 1st Gear July 29, 2012 Share July 29, 2012 Lol....this reminds me of my experience. My former company had two "ang pow" session.. The first one was in aug 2008... It was their first time doing it... Who were in the list was like an open secret... After the start of the official working hour at 0830,,, those affected we're called up one by one.... One manager was very buay song that he got it...(probably spent the previous day to type out his last email but never hit the send button)... At about 9, everyone received the email from him... He mentioned he started from tech to mgr even though he had no paper qualification...and he delivered results wherever he was assigned to... But he lamented he didnt know how polish boots or safety shoes ... In the email, he pointed out who were the boot lickers, who were the real good guys... The email was filled lots of term word for word translated from hokkien and Chinese.... It was also sent to some of the big guys at the corporate as well...created quite a storm.. So in the next exercise which was held few mths later which I was also involved.... The IT dept closed the email acct of those affected at 8 am..so if u can't check email or go to the net meant u were in the list!!!! Quite an experience.....can forgive why they let me go...but will never forget the xperience...

Macrotrust Neutral Newbie July 29, 2012 Share July 29, 2012 recall many years ago with ex-company one of the sale manager was going to terminate by email, with tip off from the HR that he will be retrenched with only 1 month notice payment. he was furious and purposely take MC to avoid the letter. later he wrote an email to the chairman and other senior management about the allegation that the present MD was doing some illegal trade. this email gave hell to the whole company with investigation from head office and inspection but nothing was found. the morale of the lesson is treat people with respect . if company have the guts to let go must be willing to explain furthermore the person have worked more than 10 years with the company. of course the business is bad, in the red, and his salary is about 10K per month. sometimes it is your luck run out where company can no longer afford to pay much. even if you check with MOM, there is nothing they can do as you know all pro-employer

My last day in this esteemed and glorious company will be Friday 4th May. I have taken the liberty to plan methodically for my future to the extent that I have got plans for both Tuesday and Friday night next week. Below is an interview that I have conducted with myself. Why are you leaving a company that are paying you a ludicrous amount of money? Money don Edited July 29, 2012 by Estrangable

Icedbs Turbocharged July 29, 2012 Share July 29, 2012 To me, it is very childish for anyone to write mass complain email to everyone when they are terminated. Why burn bridges before you leave? You will never know if anyone in the company could be your future customer or future employer or possible future colleagues! Employment is always on mutual ground, what about those time when the employee found a better job and choose to resign despite the company may be short handed at that time? Does the company write mass email and complain about you? Obviously No.

I don't think the probability is LOW unless you totally change industry or job function. And if your current company is a big company with many staff, then the chances of meeting some of your colleagues as your future colleagues, customers or future bosses is even higher. Remember, a person could be in the workforce for 30-40 years, the probability of meeting back their ex-colleagues is not low. In anycase, what is the value of voicing out the unhappiness? Besides venting out some anger, what does it give you? Your close colleagues who read it will just probably empathize with you and that's about it. The rest of the 90% whom you are not close with will not even bother and it goes straight to the trash box with them thinking another "joker". Infact, you have just help the company to conclude that they have indeed made the right decision in dismissing you. Burn bridges only if you have a rich father who could support you even if you don't work for the rest of your life. Sosaria Twincharged July 29, 2012 Share July 29, 2012 (edited) Quite like committing career suicide to do that... unless you're retiring, but even then... It is okay to air your grievances to HR privately during exit interview. With any luck, they'll take some rectifying action if many exit interviewees voice the same opinions. The only reason that somebody has grievances is because they didn't do well in the company, thus stuck at present level without promotion. It could be their own weaknesses, so why air it out? Anyway, reading the long example e-mail posted above, I guess people who are still single and childless can afford some bravado and do this kind of thing. Once married with children, well then we have some bigger responsibilities to take care of. Edited July 29, 2012 by Sosaria
