Yawn.. Wad for debate.. Anyway Apple is plain silly for filing this lawsuit against Samsung.. They'll never win it.. Apple to me is just user friendly.. I just feel they take something of a similar or somewat lesser spec phone slap on a fancy package den proceed to charge everyone a remium for it.. Not an Apple fanboy..

I think everyone is missing the point except happily1986. It's just a move to screw around with Samsung.

Apple is just trying to protect their profit margin.

Point is will they get that injunction? Or have they already gotten it? They can try but I think it is unlikely..

Exactly. Hopefully in time for Apple to launch iPhone 5 and sway some of the buyers away from Samsung towards iPhone 5. After that, their lawsuit can be thrown out for all they care, Samsung already lost the market share and sales.

Seriously, this patent war is becoming stupid.

point is, they dont need to get an injunction permanent.

if they can get a temporary injunction, its good enough.

with the way modern tech is going, a product life span is less than 1 year before its been push down to mid-range phone. what more for a law suit that run for 1 year?

I don't think they can even get a temporary injunction.. Ok at least that's what I think..

I think they are just wasting their time with the lawsuit and we all know lawsuits costs money and time.. They could have spent these money and time into developing a better product..

2 year upgrade cycle?? Its actually less than 2 years for SGS. i am not very sure, IIRC SGS cannot even upgrade to Gingerbread. this is a big big screw up by samsung.

wrong. i9000 was upgraded to Gingerbread after all.

what this news posted by TS is, the temp injunction is off and the case is close. but temp injunction had already gone on for sometime.

in fact, IIRC Nexus S also face temp injunction too. which later was lifted a few months later.

My bad. There are quite a few outstanding patent lawsuits between Apple and Samsung, for both phones and tablets alike. Basically the aim is the same, to stall Samsung's sales, so that Apple can sell a few more of their products to those who cannot wait for Samsung's. By the time the lawsuit gets thrown out, it's about time to move on to the next product.

hardware specs wise, I think the Cortex A8 core and the PowerVR SGX540 GPU is up to the task but I guess it was a commercial decision to jettison it. After all, it lived through 3 Android iterations, Eclair, Froyo and finally Gingerbread.

Temporary court orders aren't that hard to obtain to be honest.

Yup.. Well, it's only normal for companies to want to protect their own interests...

Supposingly, Samsung claimed due to galaxy S low Ram limitation they are not able to upgrade as their UI take up more Ram.

but we all know the truth. Samsung is a company that make profit by selling new product. they got no interest in keeping their product up to date. if not, they can just disable their own UI on Galaxy S and gave the plain ICSW.
