No need to pay a single cent to share the road ? when knock a car say sorry only and cycle off ? Caused motorist to knock them and start pointing fingers and fault ? Anyway , is their life. If they dun cherish it , no one will... The laws of the land allow cyclists to be on the road. And road tax is based on engine capacity, so does a Lambo paying $7,800 have more rights on the road than a off peak Perodua paying $70? But I cherish my life and cycle safely. Nzy Twincharged December 19, 2012 Share December 19, 2012 You see, the lights were to my favor. I could not swerve, there was a car at my driver's side. Pax side was the kerb. Could not E brake as firstly no time and secondly the car behind would most prob ram into me. So no choice but to send the cyclist to kingdom come. Plus multiple witness, so don't even need court case. Instant ruling by TP was cyclist at fault. Seems like you were lucky to get a kind TP or the cyclist pass away and could not pursue the case. I wasn't so lucky though. Hit a guy who jumped infront of my car in the carpark. Got fined and some demerit points. The guy wasn't even injured badly. A few scrapes and 3 days MC only. Had lots of witnesses who testified I wasn't speeding and the guy just ran onto the road suddenly.
Scoots 3rd Gear December 19, 2012 Share December 19, 2012 (edited) How do you know you shouldn't play with fire? 1. Use my brain 2. learn from others. As pointed out before, youir logic is such that a person needs to murder before he/she knows its wrong. Major flaw Using your own 'logic' 1. You killed anyone to learn that it's wrong? 2. You stole before you learn that it's wrong? and your favourite 3. You burned yourself before you know not to play with fire? Why do you need identifiable and traceable unless TP is not doing their work (i.e. traffic patrol)? In the same context, pedestrian also need to be identifiable and traceable to enforce traffic rules (i.e. no jaywalking). Again, another (fli[p flopping) flawed logic. IF cyclists are to be treated as pedestrains. then the expectations of policing and real-time 'catching' is reasonable IF cyclists are to be treated as another road user, then they should be just as identifiable and traceable as another road user. Offence can be reported. Offence can be captured on video. Offenders can be traced. By that same flawed logic, cars and lorries could also go around without license plates. Trust me, if that was allowed, we'd see a lot more cyclist deaths already You want best of both worlds without the responsibilities of either. If your mentality represents just a fraction of how cyclists think, no wonder we are seeing irresponsible riding on the roads... because they think/know they can get away with it Edited December 19, 2012 by Scoots
Gnahp Turbocharged December 19, 2012 Share December 19, 2012 There are ambiguous. There are innocent non-motorised road users asking to be treated like a pedestrian (no road tax, no license, no number plate, no signal lights, no LTA approved helmet) when necessary. There are legal road user and demand to be treated like a motorcycle on the road when needed, in fact, I never hear motorcyclist asking for 1.5m gap. Is it helpful with license plate or more TP enforcement on the road? Lastly, why don't you write a petition to Ministry of Transport to ban bicycle on the road? Lastly, why don't you write a petition to Ministry of Transport to ban bicycle on the road? We don't want them they doing that. We want them to assist us in expanding the network of PCNs. Incorporating bike lanes into the shoulders of roads and ensuring we can travel safely. Everyone keeps saying that Singapore is land scarce. The COE is astronomically pricey. Building of espressways is something like A$1bn per km. Cars take up a lot of space. If we can get commuting by bike up to 5%+ of trips, and with the further rollout of MRT over the next decade, then we may see meaningful drop in traffic conjestion and means we can enjoy our cars more. No worries. He will not do it because i think he is a keyboard warrior. I have invited him countless time to ride bicycle with me. Even Elfenstar don't mind coming along. :( My invitation was rejected. I was deem bias because my invitation was rejected. The purpose of this ride to show him that you could cycle safely based on proper route planning & looking at things from cyclist perspective (rather than juz driver's perspective) Instead of bike lane, it will be more useful to state clearly that cyclist could share bus lane with bus with priority given to bus. I definitely agree with your suggestion.
Deckki Clutched December 20, 2012 Share December 20, 2012 (edited) Recently i noticed there has been an increasing number of "foreign" cyclists along nicoll highway, taking for granted that drivers have to give way to them, some even cycle in the middle of the lane, so i suppose something must be done to alert the authorities on this issue.
