Use it to pay school fees, there shouldn't be any left over after that. Remember that CDA for subsequent children can be use to pay school fees for those that ran out. So CDA shouldn't have much left over to worry about.

geez ... what the school fees for primary schools nowadays ?? my time was $3 a month ...

won't have "leftover" or "too much" one assuming one goes to childcare from 18 months onwards.

that's one good  way ... got to get my wife to go work first ... then got govt subsidy right ??

Is your child covered for medical under yours or your wife's company coverage?

If so, use that unless your medical coverage is insufficient.

When your kid goes to nursery or kindergarten, there will be ample opportunities to use it. And the baby bonus won't seem like much when their school fees kick in.

can use cda to pay for my son's medical insurance ?? like that then I can save on the cash portion for his med ins liow ...

Gahment calculated until very zhun zhun one based on normal child care and kindergarten fees.

My first child not enough.

My second child left abit; used balance to buy spectacles for elder child. (Remark: actually nothing left, but this small balance comes from sudden "windfall" for budget 2015. [laugh] Additional $600 top up. [thumbsup]

Any increase in gifts, the child care operators will fast hand fast leg up the fees to match.

At first I also scared cannot use up. So, I top up $1K by $1K. In the end, top up full amount per government matching. :D

Those that go for normal kindergarten with no childcare will not be able to use up. I didn't deposit all at one go cuz I doubt can finish using before Primary school.

Haha, school fees for nursery, kindergarten, infant care, childcare and after school care. All this adds up to quite a lot. School fees for public school still very affordable.

For Singaporeans, primary school fees:

1. School fee: Free

2. Standard Miscellaneous fee: $6.50 pm

3. Second tier miscellaneous fee: $6.50 pm (varies from schools, but can use Edusave to pay)

i thought newborn (or kids born after Aug 2012) has medisave grant? and that they have their own medisave account?

cannot use this to pay for medical stuff (jabs etc)?

http://www.heybaby.sg/havingchildren/grant_newborns.html

under FAQ

The Medisave Grant for Newborns (MGN) helps to provide parents with greater peace of mind and support for their children's healthcare needs.

The MGN will help to ensure that newborns start out in life with enough Medisave to pay for their Medishield Life premiums from birth till age 21. It will also support expenditures on other healthcare expenses such as recommended childhood vaccinations, hospitalisation, and approved outpatient treatments.

I meant if his or his wife's company covers kids medical, then tap on that first.

Leave the CDA and MGN alone first if the company coverage is there.

Go PCF lo. Their increase the least and still got discount. My son's school let us pay the old rates if we pay 6 months fees immediately.

Guess my area opposite. Easy to get a slot in PCF. Class size all very small. My second son's class only 7 people for now. Whereas for the private kindergartens all got long waiting list till I give up already.
