7hm Turbocharged May 18, 2015 Share May 18, 2015 On the overheating part, well it still exist. At least it doesn't overheat till it breaks down. It is just heated up but still functioning. If it's warm but still running normally then that's not called overheating ↡ Advertisement

Bro, How hot is it when you mean by heated up? Is it under shelter or sun? If you check the video recording quality when the cam is hot, is the video blurred but resumes after it cools down? Cicada1810 1st Gear May 19, 2015 Share May 19, 2015 (edited) It just feels hot to the touch but not scalding. It happens even under the shade. I guess partly also because i have it operating in Parking mode as well. It is still operating though vehicle is off. Sorry, I correct myself. It doesn't overheat. Just hot to the touch but still function normally. Thats why there are perforation around the camera to let the heat dissipate. Thats what the AD explained. I believe its normal. My previous Papago also feels hot once it runs for 20-30 min. So long as the equipment doesnt breakdown. Or else Blackvue would have already addressed it in their earlier version before it affects their market share. Video quality not affected by the heat. I view my footages once every few days to understand its performance. Except for footages that are taken when facing direct sunlight, the footages have never been affected by the tactile feel of the heat...at least for now. Its been 1 month now. Reason I asked is because I've used DR500 x 2, DR550 x 3 before I gave up on blackvue's durability. All of them at one point or another had its GPS fail, video blur, auto restarted, distorted images (fuzzy green purple) or total hung or rear cam cannot be detected because I park in the open at my office. When it's running 24/7 and gets heated up under the sun, it gets too hot to touch for more than 5 seconds. But the video quality under normal condition is really superb. Based on your description, I guess it is still not suitable for me.
7hm Turbocharged May 19, 2015 Share May 19, 2015 If you got one of those thermal imaging systems, usually as long as a device's body don't get beyond 45℃ it should still be fine. Electronics these days are capable of sustaining up to 65℃ typically, or in case of mobile computers, typically have to sustain 72℃. Or graphics cards running at 92℃ also normal... But for cameras I dunno. I think as long as its internals not getting worse than 65℃ should be OK. But imo if there's another kind of camera that can provide as good performance without getting very warm, that would be better. Also probably means it has less electrical draw. But for Blackvue, as long as the heat don't affect its performance, should be fine, right? Just don't want it to be giving unusable footage at a critical moment! Cicada1810 1st Gear May 19, 2015 Share May 19, 2015 Hi bro Before this, i used Papago P3 on my 2nd hand Altis. When it gets too hot, it simply gives an overheat indication and shuts itself down for a while. So it is natural for stuff to break down under extensive high temperature. Even my cash card once warped in my IU. One thing i did with my papago to circumvent this is to remove from the mount whenever i park in the open under high temperature, esp mid afternoon. I used to be working in a place where there was no sheltered lot. I did this for 3.5 yrs and the unit is in perfect condition even until now. Of course you will sacrifice parking mode if the unit is equippes with it. If not, this method is troublesome but u save money with replacement. Hope this tip works for you. Thanks bro. Hi bro, My current DVR within a year has also gone blurred and I'm likely to send it back for repairs. My current practice is I'll switch it off but leave it mounted. Seems not to be working well. I'll do exactly what you suggest; removing the camera when I'm in the office Thanks for your advise!

Gee...i was considering the blackvue again after a bad experience with the DR400. I had installed in both my cars and within 6 months, the overheating issue cropped up. Looks like I will probably source around for another brand

Adrianli Hypersonic May 21, 2015 Share May 21, 2015 what are all those red square things? Double sided tape. Dark red ones are for cable arrangement when routing the cable.
ricleosg 4th Gear May 21, 2015 Share May 21, 2015 (edited) oh no..... i just received the Blackvue Dr750 2ch from Qoo10, and found that the power cable provided is the one that needs to be wired into the fusebox...instead of the standard cigar 12 volt charger...looks like really have to ask an installer to help install... unless i can buy a cable with the for the blackvue easily. I can't even test to see if the blackvue is working now.... no idea how to DIY with this cable set up The one that came with the Qoo10 set. what i will need to get if not hardwiring to fuse box Edited May 21, 2015 by ricleosg

I'm sure there will be someone or somewhere that will have a spare, maybe. Or you could bring your cam set and your car back to C&C and ask them to install for you. At least that way it's not using your ciggy-plug! ...and they can't say it's been improperly installed
Cicada1810 1st Gear May 21, 2015 Share May 21, 2015 (edited) if its an original blackvue notwithstanding that it is from Qoo10, you can go to any of the Authorised Dealers, pay an installation charge and have them do a professional job for you. Of course you dun tell them you get from Qoo10 as they may be more pissed. Just say you got it as a gift or something but dunno how to install. The AD at Ubi is friendly. You can approach them. oh no..... i just received the Blackvue Dr750 2ch from Qoo10, and found that the power cable provided is the one that needs to be wired into the fusebox...instead of the standard cigar 12 volt charger...looks like really have to ask an installer to help install... unless i can buy a cable with the for the blackvue easily. 7hm Turbocharged May 22, 2015 Share May 22, 2015 I wondering now about the voice prompts from Blackvue cams, how annoying are they, how often does it say something? Can we turn the voice prompts off, like the "now recording" and "shutting down" etc.? I can imagine hearing it say those everytime I start the car would be very annoying! The kinds like system problem would be helpful but don't want it telling me it's starting up everytime... just want to see the blue light

Connect your phone and check the menus... sorry its late lazy to go down to the car park ↡ Advertisement
