Just checking, can the Ferodo DS 2500 front brake pads be fitted on the 2009 version 159 with the 305mm rotor & grey calipers?? [confused]

I know the part number for Ferodo pad that fits the grey caliper is FDB4206. I don't think it is DS 2500 but you can trace from there. Hope it helps.

Bro, don't know whether you encountered the same irritating problem as mine. The screeching sound of the brakes can be heard at lower gears upon slow braking. Apparently, its not the pad / rotor. Went to Peter for diagnose and we found that the brake pin has bent. Needs to get new ones for replacement.

Mines the 330mm. are yours tarox?

Mine was checked, its not the brake pin. its the pad + rotor mix.

I might just go for a re-bedding in run to see if it helps..

u need to run it in harder to get it to "shut up". mine was noisy... The subsequent one, I tried shorter n harder. there after, the pads almost quiet. very minimal sound. screeching v obvious when reversing though. anyway i need to try ur new shifter.. [laugh]

im still using 330 stock brakes. the QV version late 2010. If the problems are resolved for my braking sound, im just happy enough. :D

Especially Ferodos, if you don't do hard bedding in.. will have A LOT OF NOISE.

Hi guru,

I am a Alfa newbie so i need some opinion on my selection for my next ride: Alfa 159. Currently there are two 3.2 Q4 that advertised in sgcarmart and Im leading toward the one with a manual gearbox. The reason why i choose a manual gearbox as i believe it is more engaging ride plus lesser headache/maintenance compare to auto gearbox. So i need to ask if there is any potential issue or any honest opinion on this ride that i need to look out for? In case of any inconvenience to reply in this open forum, pls feel free to pm me.

Sorry that i have to ask this question in this thread as i do not have any permission to create any new thread. Sorry about it. Thank you.

I can only say what I know. the car is driven hard, as any alfa should be. but being a manual, it is cheaper to do maintenance.

but car is heavy. and the 3.2 V6 can handle more power than its currently being put out. Just manage heat.

Also, don't lower it, as a few people noticed that the propeller shaft is low, and can cause breakage....

there's one more 3.2 manual here in the forum. he can tell you how he maintains his car.

Thanks Saabretooth for the advise. Yes i do know that the car is heavy which make the power to weight ratio suffer.

One thing about driven hard is hard to put a number on it, as in like how hard is consider hard and everyone definition may be different. So long that definition of hard is not abusive then will be fine i guess. I had a friend who drove Alfa 146 (if i remember the model correctly) for 9 years and he never have much problem beside the wear and tear maintenance, as he always said Alfa have to drive hard so will have lesser problem. Haha.

One thing about lowering the ride, i will have no idea what will be the default ride hide so i dont really know if that car has being lowered. However i notice that the previous owner change the whole coilover, with absorber is yellow and spring is green in color (if i remember correctly). I have no idea what brand is the setup cos i only know yellow and purple is KW and blue and yellow is blistien etc. So identification of that coilover is being unknown to me.

Nevertheless, the engine note from Alfa V6 is sweet. Have to wait for that guru that drove a 3.2 manual to advise me on how he maintenance the car.

I suspect you are looking at Konis with some aftermarket springs.

So confirm lowered. The stock height should have 40mm - 50mm gap in the wheel well. (Think some people will call it 3 fingers? 159 owners please advise)

Another way is to bend down and look at the bottom of the chassis. You think got enough clearance for humps? If not enough... then...
