5936 1st Gear July 15, 2012 Share July 15, 2012 What telltale symptoms did you experienced prior to removal of injectorsmand plugs? What car is tis and age and mileage? Keep expensive and intrusive repairs as one of the final option. Once opened up, engine is not the same anymore.

Anyname Neutral Newbie July 16, 2012 Share July 16, 2012 Also check your coolant for oil ingress which would suggest a more serious issue or your need to top up coolant frequently.
Turbocharger Neutral Newbie July 18, 2012 Share July 18, 2012 (edited) oily spark plugs usually means oil is getting into the combustion chamber either by worn piston ring or by worn out intake/exhaust valve seals or valve guide. Oily plugs not usually caused by leakage pass gasket etc. Did you say all spark plugs are oily or only some? If some means you can narrow down which cylinder it is. But generally, if you put your finger tip to the exhaust tip (after car is cold ok) and wipe the inside and it is black powdery then that is carbon but if black with oily feel that is oil leak also. Pay attention to your oil consumption. is it excessive? different ways to test. get a compression test to see what the piston ring is doing. If your workshop does not know what this is or does not have the simple compression tester - find another shop. lost of compression means piston rings worn out - depending on how bad it is, this will affect power obviously and economy. it may also means rough idling if some are more worn than others. This test is harder to do and need some experience - Drive and get someone to check exhaust smoke. Accelerate hard and check for grey black smoke = piston rings (bec accelerate hard pushes the rings harder). (dont mistake black carbon smoke for oil smoke expecially if you have a lot of carbon buildup which is common in city driving that is why it is good to accelerate hard uphill in lower gears to use the pressure to clear out the carbon build up. This is what is known as the italian tune-up). If no smoke then lift off accelerator and let car decelerate quickly in gear (just like engine brake) this will cause the engine to experience lower pressure and higher vacuum this will draw oil from the valve stem pass the valve seals. If smoke then its valves. At least the above is how the old timers did their diagnosis. Edited July 18, 2012 by Turbocharger

Satrianeo_2012 Clutched July 29, 2012 Share July 29, 2012 Injectors oily.... It has nothing to do with valve cover gasket. Its quite normal in fact. Its due to the positive crank case valve that vents blow by gas into the intake. It comes with lots of engine oil as well. Thats why it coats the injectors. Its harmless but dirty. thats why some people use oil catch tank instead.
