i don understand wht LTA is thinking. they limit the trucks, pick up etc speed to 70km/h and than allow the to use lane 2.

so when these ppl are in lane 2, they are either hogging or speeding....

Shouldnt heavy vehicles should be on the left lane? This morning the stretch between MCE and AYE this trailer was hogging the second lane and didnt even move back in to the third lane despite having sufficient room to do so.

Don't mind me asking, is this 'no heavy vehicles on the first and second lane' rule applicable to major roads up to 70km/hr? Or is it applicable to expressways only?

So far, it has been accepted that heavy vehicles can travel on the second lane, only the first lane is available for overtaking. This is why sometimes, you would find the first lane packed with vehicles overtaking.

I think maybe next time, we should have a camera that states 'traffic observance camera ahead'

Have a read and watch the youtube video in the article:

http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/one-motorcyclist-in-an-accident-every-two-hours-heavy-vehicle-accidents-on-the

The first video shows the stealthy TP stopped a bus for failing to keep to the left most lane on expressway.

I think all heavy vehicles (including vans) are supposed to be on the left most lane and not supposed to be on 2nd and 1st lane on the expressway.

But how often do you see TP patrol on expressway? Think once a blue moon only, and just catch one offender?!

Do mind that there are more than 1 class of heavy vehicle lor.

G plate is Light Goods Vehicle

Y and X are the Heavy Goods Vehicle or 3 or more axles.

And there is W plate - Tow and Crane

And the awesome R plate lor - No RHD limitation. Even got 2 steering wheel for some as it is too big to see both side lor

While G plate can drive up to 70km/h.  The heavy vehicle is not lor.  I think Y plate is 60, X plate is 40 and 50. And W is 40 ah ? Not sure.

YXWR plate are not supposed to overtake due to a slower vehicle infront lor.  They can only overtake when there is an obstacle or blockage  lor

The only benefit of driving these heavy vehicle is NO SEAT REQUIREMENT lor.

And G plate cannot use the overtake lane lor on expressway.

Based on the 1990s ed.

Sadly, this seems to be the case. More can and should be done to catch offenders and can lead to less accidents.

Oh ..... seasonal like mangoteen and good news, now is the season !!!

Or got major news about a very serious accident involved these vehicle and die in a horrific manner.

I think the all time best is a XB container truck, race on lane 1 got into the accident.  His baby son flew out in the opposite expressway and got crushed 10X.  ST never show the photo of victim.

LTA should flash these photo to those who just passed their licence lor.
