Heavy vehicles hogging

This is referring to peak hours traffic on 3-4 lanes expressways or major roads.

It's common to see container trucks, earth-carrying trucks, big lorries, going slowly at 50kmh+ in lane2, hogging the traffic behind when general speed in lane2 is close to 80-90, but the cars behind are not fast enough to find a gap in lane1 (which is full of faster cars) to overtake these hogging trucks. These cars end up overtaking from the left!!

Worst is when these trucks will slow to crawling speeds when they climb up flyovers eg Benjemin Shears bridge etc making cars behind also crawl.

I though they can actually stay away from lane2 and use 3 or 4 to allow free flow in lanes 1, 2?

Hopefully there will be new rules to ban them on lane2 during peak hours if it's a four-lane expressway.

LTA should really do something with road hoggers!! Now days you cant even overtake from lane 1 because if its not the heavy vehicles it will be drivers who are slow. We pay high COE,Road Tax,ERP,taxes etc. and still the condition is getting from bad to worse. Sometimes i just wonder if those people who make the policies really know what they are doing.

Lane 2 is no big deal ..... I often encountered these vehicles on lane 1 on the expressway .... especially the Malaysian plate trucks and bus ..... i have asked the question many times .... where the hell are the TPS ? Where is the enforcement ?

I have seen a malaysian bus smashed into the back of a Singapore car on BKE in lane 1 ...... wtf is the bus doing in lane 1 ..... some would say that the bus is heading to tuas and lane 1 and 2 are the lanes for vehicles headed for Tuas ... but but the accident happen before the exit to Bukit Panjang which is a few kilometers from the slip road to Tuas.

The problem is with the enforcement ....... very very poor in recent years

If those people who make the policies really know what they are doing, then there would not be so many complaints. [:p]

I guess there is nothing much that TP can do to road hoggers whether they are heavy vehicles or cars. Cause there are so many roads here, TP cant possibility patrol all the roads 24 hours.

I concur with you. Heavy vehicles in lane 2 are becoming an incresingly common sight and they are a nuisance because they slow traffic down considerably. They should not be there in the first place but rather in lanes 3/4. Many times when I overtake one and turn to look, the driver is oblivious to what is going on around him and just happily chugging along at his own slow pace. A number of them are FTs as well. I really do think that not enough is being done to enforce this problem at the moment.

Maybe not enough people want to be TPs even the job will give them fast bikes to ride and get paid for riding them?

Looks like nowadays seems like all jobs here always not enough people want to do?! Does this mean in future even jobs in garment sector might also employ FTs? Since no locals want to do?! [:p]

Maybe aircon the TP bikes, few more people will join !

I think many of us has car cams with speed indicators. If we all see and send clips to the TP, I wonder if TP will prosecute these drivers?

Even if the LTA enforcement officers are on their bikes, they would come from behind and signal to these vehicles to keep left.

I think they should be doing more by stopping them, take down the license plate. First time warning, 2nd time fine and maybe with demerit points.

If they are so good at catching bus lane users and speeders, why can't they catch hoggers? Even slower speed shouldn't be that difficult right?

I think these heavy vehicles drivers are aware that they should be keeping to the left. Last week on TPE the dump truck ahead of me travelling at 90km/hr in lane 2 suddenly slow down and moved to lane 3. The whole stretch of lane 1/2 suddenly clear with all heavy vehicles moved to lane 3. Subsequently i passed by 2 TP holding up something that look like a video cam, pointing at the road. I am glad to see some enforcement, but just wondering if these heavy vehicles are going to get summons ultimately?

These heavy vehicles drivers know they can only drive on the left lane, or travel not exceeded 60km/h. But on the road majority of these heavy vehicles drivers dont practise that, they always drive on the outer lane, overtake private cars and speed at 80km/h or more!

And many times they even cut queue at slip road exit, forcefully cut into lane of other cars. I see liao also shake head.
