WELLINGTON (AFP) - New Zealand launched a search on Wednesday for hundreds of Chinese students who arrived in the country on fraudulently-obtained visas, immigration officials said.

Immigration New Zealand (INZ) said an audit found almost 300 visas were issued by its Beijing office on the basis of fraudulent information and 231 of the students who received them remained in the country.

'An operation has begun today to contact and interview the people implicated in the fraudulent activity,' it said in a statement.

'This investigation is likely to take several weeks.'

Validity of visa how long?

If only 30days, then not a big problem as they will have to leave NZ. After their holidays in NZ

Unless its about overstayers using fake visa just to gain entry, that will be a big issues.

I don't want to drink NZ cow milk squeezed by tiongs, or cheese produced by illegal tiongs workers, etc

Visa would typically be for the length of the course....

Most likely is one academic year. Would normally reapply when enrol for the following year

Also - pretend to be sheep not neccessarily safe - you know how NZedders like to go to bed with clean sheets sheep
