Hearsay KYB has much better drive than stock. It's worth the bucks just adding a little more dollars.

If you are feeling rich, get Bilstein B6. :D

How much & where to replace? Was told to replace the whole set up to the ball bearing.

Thanks.

I got workshop owner telling me he could get good price for KYB from M'sia. I tot it would be a real steal if we can get it from M'sia. However, I heard from a M'sia friend that Malaysian themselves dont buy locally as the shock manufactured locally is on the softer side. They wanted KYB from Singapore. So price is not everything. Always got pro & con.

just be careful though.got a lot of fakes selling in malaysia.make sure you get the real deal.

I dun recommend getting yr car parts n spares from Msia cos their Made in Msia quality is vey low n also many imitations there which look exactly like the original.

KYB best is still made in Japan but many models dun hv anymore n only got Made in Thai. Only get the gas shocks as oil is outdated n hardly used anymore.

I always buy my parts in SG n bring to my JB ws to install only. And many times parts sold in Msia is more ex even. I think cos they hv import tax on car parts.

Shocks du have Ball Bearing lah.

I wil change the shocks n the rubber mounting for the front 2 n all 4 rubber stoppers for front n rear cos then the car wil b quieter n smoother.

But changing the rubber is optional as some wil inspect n if its still not badly worn can still use for one more round but it might break halfway then yr car become noisy when going over bumps.

Some rubber mounts have ball bearing. Its already built into the mounts. The ws want to cannot you isit? Mount plus bearing when it already come with it.

Keep in mind that your old springs will lose some of its rated strength after years of abuse, might risk bottoming or riding on bump stop if lowered or excessive cargo. Always replace your bump stop when changing shocks.

Excel-G is a gas twintube shock that is has 15% more dampening than stock. So what you get is a stiffer ride.

Kyb premium is oil twintube shock that is around the same dampening as the stock shocks. So you will get a close to stock comfort setup.

Never lower more than 30-35mm(Kyb warranty) and never cut your springs!

Singapore $80-$100 labour charge. $50 alignment.

Malaysia boleh! $120+- ring it labour charge. $25+- ring it alignment.

Is there Kyb premium available for lancer CS3? Are the front and rear the same shocks?

My stock shocks are pretty much gone after 7 years and I prefer the stock comfort setup but I heard stock shocks are very ex.

My camry changed all 4 shock + labour about 700.

Pls don't change to kyb gas shock cos it will damage your comfort.

I regret big time all change to kyb gas.

U can go ric-tat and buy original and I can recommend my ws change for u at $30/a pcs.

Hello. Can you recommend me your WS too?

If u change to KYB gas n also change all the rubber mounts etc, the ride sud b good.

I prefer gas cos the handling is better. I doubt u can get oil shocks anymore as they seldom make oil shocks now.

Dear all

I'm driving an FD Civic was quoted $1100 for 4 pcs.

Any bros or sis have change below the price ?

Sounds expensive.

As a gauge, I was quoted 880 for original front shocks (inc labor but not alignment) and 680 for KYB front shocks (inc labor but not alignment).

Called up a couple of stockist and best price (no labor) is around 460 for originals and 240 for KYB. This means the fellow quoted me 400 bucks for labor [shocked]

As mentioned by some forumers, labor should be around 150-200 (including alignment).

You can call a couple of stockist like Min Ghee and Jae Auto for them to quote you for the stocks. If you don't mind KYB ones, they should also be able to quote or you can call Yuen Thong.

Can try this also (some bro above posted): http://www.jsautomotive.com.sg/shock.html

Did you guys change out the rubber mounts when replacing the absorbers?

The price of the mount is not expensive, $40 per pic for my kimchi car.

not sure abt your car, so if u can, change it too when changing absorbers as the

Labour cost shall be the same w or without the mount as when u remove the old absorber u will be accessing the mount too. Else next time if the mounts is spoil before the absorbers u will need to pay labour again to change it and not forgeting alignment cost again.
