The cost of DC charger. US$40K stated in this video at 7:50.  It is not just the cost but also the size.  The inverter is about the size of a fridge.  You don't want a fridge in your driveway.

But bottomline is, for landed property owners, their cars sit idle in their driveway 12 hours a day. AC slow chargers are more than adequate.

Yeah single phase AC charger 7kw, more  than enough. $5k one time settle everything.
You don’t charge the car only when it becomes 0%. Everyday come back 60-70% left. Charge 3 hours until 80%, plug out before sleep. next day good to go liao.

DC charger is for charging infrastructure companies to supply to electric car owners who don’t have their own dedicated box chargers.

Yes, for sure it is for home usage. I don't think anyone is that crazy to install a DC charger at their private property yet. Even the bundled chargers which are included in your EV purchase from Porsche, BMW, MB, Audi etc are all AC.

Currently, AC to DC converter is in the car itself.  Any conversion will create heat.

On the other hand, a low power DC charger like 20kw will not have a huge inverter.

It will shift the heat (resulting from conversion) away from the car.

You're right about the OBC (Onboard Charger) which is essentially a built-in rectifier (AC to DC) in the car. Usually, the OBC is actively liquid cooled by the same cooling circuit for the electric drivetrain and the entire conversion is typically limited to 11kW if charging by AC. So, all in all, conversion heat in the car due to this process should not be too much of an issue. 

Maybe next time wireless charging liao lah, no more of such charging shenanigans 😁

Nio also has battery swap.
It is manufacturer specific.

You're right. You also need the following app,

Greenlots, BlueSG, Charge+

BlueSG and Shell requires separate membership.

Shell no need AFAIK, it's pay per use. Same goes for other Greenlot charging stations as they are both under Greenlot. 

BlueSG needs annual membership for sure.

Thanks! I already noticed there are a few places that I frequent has new charges install. Also the nearest chargers from home are about 4km away.

Getting more positive about my next car being a EV.
