Modern AF I believe has improved by leaps and bounds and the nitty gritty blemishes should be history.

I would have chosen a AF if not for the smaller than usual central screen.

Audi

Still waiting for the i5; at least COE secured.

Could not get approval for i4. Try again when ICE warranty over in 2 years.

Yap, about there, i remember paying for electricity would be around 50% +/- in terms of cost vs a similar ICE.

A modern ICE (non performance oriented) car would consume around 14km/L, 1k km would cost around $165 for ron 95 after discount.

Therefore, for most local drivers, driving EV don't really save them money.

The selling point should be the quietness and instant torque.

Average annual mileage in SG is 17,500km, that is 1,500km a month.

But I agree cannot compare just based on operating cost. The hybrid with CVT drive is like 10,000 miles from those of Tesla 3/ BYD seal.

A good video on why BMW and Mercedes are losing their premium.

Same reason why I thought my next car will be an EV. To get back the same 0-100, the handling and features (sunroof, HUD, driver assistance package, etc.) as my current German ride, i will need to pay circa $400k.  I could get 90% of the performance / drive and 110% of the 0-100 for less than $250k and all the bells and whistles are thrown in as well.

Fuel saving, if any, is probably marginal after adjusting for higher road tax.

Ya, CVT is really just for sedated and fuel efficient driving.

Im honestly quite impressed with the drivetrain refinement and power delivery of decently powered cat B EV such as the polestar 2, Enyaq RS, model 3 etc.
