I also thought about this. my petrol is about $500. Switch to EV maybe $100. Save $4800 per year, $48k over 10 years. But if I sell my car now and buy a 200k EV, I upfront pay 80k more. So I scrapped the thought and continue to pollute the world. 2

Later LTA bring up existing ICE road tax to EV levels then everyone dies 😁 Of course EV. Only small turbo engine owner will die. A45s now pays $1.2k. If move to EV, they need to pay $4.3k. On the other hand, small NA engine not much diff. Jazz now pays $600+. If move to EV, it is still $600+

Lala81 Hypersonic October 16, 2024 Share October 16, 2024 (edited) From what some people like Tai choo yee mention, speeding is quite stricly enforced there. Like 110kph is the hard limit for their highways. I only traveled there last in 2004. So I'm not sure how it works. But if so, it's like Australia. So you really don't need to emphasis handling/cornering at high speeds. And that's why the suspension setup for all chinese cars are soft. CLTC range is more accurate within china. The appeal of german cars is limited there once the brand/quality perception has changed. Edited October 16, 2024 by Lala81
inlinesix Hypersonic October 16, 2024 Share October 16, 2024 In China, seller needs gimmicky UI to attract buyer. On the other hand, the rest of the world don't need gimmicky UI. Just like TB vs AMZ UI.

Speeding is very street in Shanghai city, in long distance highway my friend typically drive at around 140km/h+ in their 120km/h highway. On their their Denza D9 PHEV. I feel it is the drive, interface, equipment level and pricing that probably drove demand in China. I prefer the conti drive myself but fact is even I am tempted to buy a Chinese EV next as the gap between the 2 has narrowed so much in recent years (especially after taking into account pricing). Still don't understand how Chinese EV companies get around the branding part, the rich Chinese are still buying LV. How did they change premium branding perception is something I should go read up on (if true, it could also be due to the economy or nationalism). Rather, Delvaux. My guess is marginal rich are moving towards local premium/luxury brand. Real rich still stick with Porsche or RR or Bentley

How did they change premium branding perception is something I should go read up on (if true, it could also be due to the economy or nationalism). When they realized the locally assembled German cars via joint ventures have short-changed the Chinese consumers, its not hard to see why the Chinese are more willing to change perceptions and go for their own premium Chinese brands (Denza, Zeekr, NIO, Li Auto etc). Example like E-Class direct import is using aluminium front fenders, but E-Class locally made with joint-venture is using cheaper/heavier steel. But charge same price 😂 At this point of time, the premium Chinese brands are willing to throw in more tech, standard equipment and costlier materials. Chinese people also not stupid. So its not hard to see why the Germans are losing ground in their biggest and most lucrative market. Now Chinese Youtube channels also sibeh big budget. They will buy an actual car from the showroom and do a tear-down. How to hide? 8 1

So are ICE owners who regularly commute to JB to get cheap petrol.. ↡ Advertisement
