Most current car owners will still not be able to afford one even if it's exempted from the carbon tax. But all other tax and coe still applies. Electric cars are not cheap to buy. Another issue is govt wants to reduce car population, wants ppl to take bus and train. Train is already electric. Unless Tesla can produce electric bus then maybe govt will take notice. Tesla cars, they already said the company is selling a lifestyle, which in simple terms out of reach for many ppl. If you are so into electric vehicles, take train. Tesla will never take off in spore. I agree with you its not for people earning a decent wage. Moreover the infrastructure could take decades to be on par with other pro ev countries. I am waiting for more players to get into the mass market EV game. Will they kill Tesla? Tesla's EV technology may be better now but it is not something the rest of the world cannot catch up with in due course. The economies of scale in battery production also can't fight the Chinese once mass adoption takes place. Tesla's model of building the entire ecosystem is also challenging for markets beyond North America. Is Tesla overvalued? Anyone with insights, please share your thoughts. Why? They may have the technology, but are more interested in pushing diesel cars instead, until VW got caught with its emission scandal. Throughout this, Tesla has been increasing its production volume, no doubt helped by its charismatic CEO capturing the public's imagination on mobility for the next generation. The Europeans may have been caught on a wrong footing, but looking at the new EV models to be released this year, one can be sure they're back with a vengeance to take back their market share.
