For Jan + Feb 2024, BYD sold 70 Sedan while Tesla sold 144 sedan.

For 2023, BYD sold 159 Sedan while Tesla sold 390 sedan.

Most of BYD sales come from Atto3

seal has very good rear legroom for a sedan. But it has a small boot, 400L only.

For singaporeans who have one car, atto3 probably more practical bah. And it's also cheaper.

But the interior design is obiang.

I think a lot of Atto3 could be PHV.

telsa 2 by the time it's revealed and actually sold will be a long while lah. Tesla is all about hype. They can barely make a few cars, then they will already launch.
By the time 1-2 years later, barely anyone will have the car.

Look at cybertruck. launched in 2019. Car reviewers only actually had their own vehicle like end 2023 (albeit covid must have been a major factor).

other people launch is already prepare within 3-4 months, in people's driveways at least in europe or USA.

Tesla design is polarizing.

Either you like it or don't.

Unlike traditional carmaker, Tesla production is lagging behind especially tooling for production of new car.

That's why from launch to market takes a long time.

another conti alternative

The production version is coming in 2025 and will cost the equivalent of $27,000.

Skoda intends to launch six EVs by 2026, and the most affordable of the bunch will be this pretentiously named Epiq. It’s scheduled to go next year with a targeted starting price of €25,000, or roughly $27,000 at current exchange rates. Touted as being "small but epic," the brand's entry-level EV will be among the first models to embrace the fresh "Modern Solid" design language.

Is Australia still seeing strong and accelerated EV growth with more players and models?   It has no import tax on EV from anywhere, so a good battle ground to watch the EV fight among the major players.

And unlike in America, where it is the ubiquitous Tesla vs taxed imports and where the Chinese can't play at all (27% import tariff), Australia is interesting to watch, especially as most people live in landed and rooftop solar PV is everywhere.

There isn't a lot of EV players apart from the major brands, unlikely SG just announced those Chinese brands, none seem to be coming to Australia.

The govt is also not subsidising a lot of the infrastructure build, so the rollout of chargers is also slow.

Most of the households here will have 2 cars, 1 ICE and 1 EV.

the design touches in atto 3 is obiang mah. It's like BUILD YOUR DREAMS on the back. Just garish.
It's really PRC taste.

Honda/toyota is ah pek. Fake wood trim 😁 It's like going to your grandparents house.

Got no complaints about the Seal. That is a swee modern car.

Me and the missus were discussing about BYD's chinese name, we expected it to have some chinese name with mo shui. but it's just based off their english name.

ok maybe i have a wrong interpretation of obiang. I always thought it meant more loud/gaudy/garish (which is how people around me use it) rather than old fashioned.

Learnt something new today. I stand corrected

You have to go onto the popular routes, e.g Melb to Syd where you find all the DCFC.

There was a huge hoohaa during the 2022 end of year holidays where everyone was travelling interstate and the queues for the chargers were insanely long. They remediate those last year.

Based on plugshare, you can see more and more chargers being rolled out.

Yes, I wanted to rent an EV for my next Australian trip but decided not to for the same reason. They don't seems to have a lot of fast chargers around.

I don't think most ppl will use their tesla for long road trips, it's do-able but most ppl would take their SUV instead.
