Do you always top up your fuel when you are at 50%? Comparing to your mobile where charging is more accessible than petrol kiosk, dont make yourself so stress la.

usually slightly less than 50% i will top up already

my car full tank around 500km. full tank to half tank can travel around 300km.

minus off emergency buffer of 100km

effectively left with 100km travel range at half tank

😅

Thank you!

For some reason I wasn't able to find any related info when I first google but after reading your reply I managed to find articles about EV being stuck in traffic jam. One test conducted in the UK put a fully charged VW ID.4 to fully depletes its battery in 50 hours and 1 hour or so jam will use about 2% of full charge. It is rather comforting to read that.

https://www.which.co.uk/news/2021/08/electric-cars-in-traffic-jams-will-your-battery-cope/

This test may be more applicable to causeway weather

One more EV battery maker.

2021-12-29t080328z_1_lynxmpehbs071_rtrop

STOCKHOLM : Sweden's Northvolt said on Wednesday its new gigafactory in northern Sweden has assembled its first battery cell, making it the first European company to design and manufacture a battery on the continent.

The cell is of a prismatic cell format - a variety of thinner and lighter battery - and came off the assembly line on Tuesday.

Northvolt CEO Peter Carlsson had told Reuters that the new factory would produce a battery this year "even if it means the first battery is made on New Year's Eve".

Commissioning and upscaling of the factory will continue into 2022, when the first commercial customer deliveries will be made, the company said in a statement.

The factory is set in the small, industrial town of Skelleftea in Sweden's main cluster of mines and mineral resources.

Its history of mining, not least for gold, gave it the nickname of "Gold town".

The company is aiming for the Skelleftea plant to achieve production capacity of 60 gigawatt hours (GWh) as it aims for at least a 20-25per cent market share in Europe by 2030.

It has received over US$30 billion worth of contracts from customers such as BMW, Fluence, Scania, Volkswagen, Volvo Cars and Polestar.

Noob question on EV.

If I am stuck on the causeway for 2 hours with aircon running, how much impact will it be to my range?

My usual JB run is to just go over, visit my relative and head home for a total of less than 100km. I don't even top up gas, I wonder if I can do the same for EV.

generally, the HVAC (air-con) unit consumes about 0.4kWh.
say your ev has a 50kWh battery and you are down to 80% and you're are stuck at a traffic jam, the balance 40kWh should run your car air-con for another 100 hours.
if you are only stuck for 2 hrs, it will only have consume 0.8kWh or roughly translate to 5km - 6km in lost of range.
