On that day, the family started off just after 7am, after what Mr Fauzy called a "well-rested" night.

"When I made my way after my prayers in the morning, had my coffee, so I set out after 7am. I was driving slowly but there was this thick fog that morning and after that I do not know what happened. I can't remember," Mr Fauzy said.

He said his wife, Madam Zuleeza Suri, does not recall much of the incident either.

He added that she was trying to wipe the screen on the passenger side because of the fog.

What will you guys do if encounter fog in other countries where road that are not familar??

Stop car?? or continue drive slowly and take calculated risk??

Regardless of where, better do not drive if visibility is very limited.

Even if you know the road well, others may not.

1st, the mist in the car is because of the temp diff, he should on the heater (or air-con in summer) to clear the "interior mist" before driving off.

2nd, he should always have a cleaning cloth to clean all outside window(clear the water vapour) before moving off.

3rd, he should on his "fog light" and slow down when driving in mild fog, if fog intensified, drive onto the road shoulder and stop for a while.

4th, use judgement and common sense, if you can't see the road in front, don't drive any further.

Just like driving in heavy rain where visibility is very low, you slow down, very slow if needed. The accident ws against a tress, not pile up of 10 vehicle.

Should on the blinker and slow down and move to the side.

Glad nothing happen, he gets to tell the story.

Fastest way to clear windscreen mist in winter is to turn the AC on. Most modern cars with climate control would demist the windscreen before changing the vent and temperature to your settings (at least my Subaru does). Been 3degrees here for a number of nights now.

I experience my first condensation when I drove in England, at night also. Seriously scary. YOu try to wide it, it comes back in 5 sec. That time I did not know what to do as I never expereince it in Singapore. Just drive very slow. The next day I read the car manual to know who to set the climate control to prevent fogging of windscreen.

Of course environment fog is even worst. Nothing much you can do except on fog lights & drive slow. Fog tends to be more in early Morning or night time, so best not to travel during this time.

The best solution is preventive, like not driving.

Sometimes when situation get really bad, the whole stretch of road stand still until condition better., like maybe the next day (no kidding). If you are lucky, you park your car at road side & find a pub or hotel to stay, otherwise, prepare to camp in your car, hardly the most comfortable thing to do especially in mid Winter.

I personally have not seen any road stopping incident due to weather, but one of my collegue had told me he stopped at road side before due to ice. Next morning he return to see his car ganna banged, presuming from a drunk driver or something. I once asked my collegue after experience a rare freezing rain (thankfully I did not drive fast before realise it), & he told me once they had it at around -10 deg, & the whole traffic had to stopped at night, & people had to sleep in their car overnight.

Thats why I told people never to drive oversea especially in Winter if you do not have experience. People who think the can drive in heavy rain & have no problem with ice have no idea at all.

Comparatively, it is so much easier to drive in Singapore, which made the accident rate in Singapore is a really ridiculous. I can safely said Accident in Singapore is 99% road user faults.

Many cars came with a defrost selection for front & rear, usually this should work. I know range rover had a defog & Defrost. But best is to see user manual.

Ok googled it and found out the answer why there is fog at morning during winter.

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_fog_is_appea..._winter_morning

Seems like fog is formed because the snow is melting very fast when sun just come out, and the large evapouration that causes fog.

Hmm.. learned something.

So next time when go other counties where weather is cold, best not to drive out just after sunrise.

Wiki: Fog

There is a bunch of information above. Anyway, having lived 2 autumn in 2 different countries (England & Germany), for tends to occurs during the transition period between Autumn & Winter, & usually in the early morning, & sometimes at night. Also they tends to be thicker near water features like lakes, & rivers.

Last November, it was pretty bad at times.

Its almost none in Singapore, but not uncommon in other colder countries, usually when there is heavy rain. But also depends on car.

Windscreen fogging (inner side) tends to occurs when the inside temperature is much warmer than outside (when outside is cold), hence its uncommon in Singapore. Normally we have the other way round (outside) if at all.
