PaiKia-Lee 1st Gear August 10, 2012 Share August 10, 2012 Malaysian police have shot dead three members of the notorious Kumpulan Rimba gang that have been terrorising owners of luxury hillside homes in George Town, Penang. Policemen fired at least 10 shots at the suspects - all Indonesians - after they tried to attack police officers who had gone to check on a house break-in near the Penang Municipal park. With the success, the police believed they have solved at least 18 burglary cases, involving RM572,000 (S$230,000). Penang police chief Deputy Commissioner Datuk Abd Rahim Hanafi said that during the 3.30am incident on Sunday, his men had no choice but to open fire as the suspects had charged at them. "They tried to attack us with parangs, although the team had identified themselves as policemen," he said. "They were aggressive. We believe there are other members at large." He added that the suspects acted aggressively to avoid being arrested by a police team. Self-defence The police arrived after residents alerted them to robbers' attempt to break into a house, reported Malaysia's NTV7 television channel. The police had to gun down the suspects in self-defence when they continued to attack, despite a warning shot fired to stop them. Mr Abd Rahim said three parangs, a screwdriver and a cutter were seized. The suspects were in their 20s and 30s. He said the gang targeted hillside properties because it was easier to escape by hiding in the forest. "They would strike between 3am and 6am when people are asleep. It seems that they are quite familiar with the hills and forests," he said. Investigations showed that the gang had broken into luxury homes in Waterfall Road, Jelutong, Tanjung Tokong, Tanjung Bungah and Taman Jesselton since early this year. It is learnt that a senior police officer had also fallen victim to the gang last year after they broke into his house in Taman Jesselton and fled with valuables worth RM20,000. PaiKia-Lee 1st Gear August 10, 2012 Share August 10, 2012 Malaysians are very dumb One person dumb its alright. When the whole family is dumb, someone has to die Exorcism leaves toddler dead 0 inShareBy M. Sivanantha Sharma The Star/Asia News Network Tuesday, Aug 07, 2012 BUKIT MERTAJAM - A toddler died during what is believed to be a 20-hour exorcism ritual. Police stormed a double-storey house in Taman Bukit Minyak on Sunday night and found a group of eight people lying on top of the two-year-old girl. The girl was lying face down under the human pile made up of her parents, grandmother, uncle, aunt, two cousins and their Indonesian maid. Central Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Azman Abd Lah said the family members, aged between 16 and 67, were lying on top of each other with the toddler at the bottom in the master bedroom. The lights in the room were switched off. "The child died due to breathing difficulties," he said. Her body has been sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for a post-mortem. The case, he added, was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. Apparently, another of the girl's uncles had earlier come by to invite the family for dinner but was chased away. However, he returned to the house with his wife a few hours later to find the main door locked. Suspecting something amiss, he alerted the police. It is understood that the ritual had started at 2am on Sunday with the family, who was fasting, being confined to the second floor room. The group was brought to a magistrate's court here at about 11am yesterday and ordered to be placed under remand until Aug 12. One woman, believed to be the girl's aunt, was seen moving her lips and swinging her hands during the court proceedings. It is also learnt that the girl's mother, who is three months' pregnant, was not produced in court as she had been admitted to the Bukit Mertajam Hospital. PaiKia-Lee 1st Gear August 13, 2012 Share August 13, 2012 Sinkies ambush near ATM to snatch money. Malaysia robbers are simply world class. Bomb off the damn machine! ALOR GAJAH, Malaysia - An early morning explosion damaged a bank in Masjid Tanah and sent shockwaves across the town, about 11km from here. The blast resulted from a botched attempt to blow up an automated teller machine (ATM) at the Bank Rakyat branch in Taman Bandar Baru, where witnesses saw four men with full-faced helmets and black jackets fleeing the scene in two motorcycles at about 3.30am yesterday. The suspects fled upon hearing police sirens heading towards the bank. There were no casualties but the blast damaged the ATM and two cash deposit machines at the front portion of the bank. Police have cordoned off the blast site. At the same time, Malacca police chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Chuah Ghee Lye has ordered his men to beef up security at financial institutions in rural areas in the state. He has also set up a task force to investigate the incident, which he described as a "high profile" case. "We will not leave any stone unturned and are working hard to identify the culprits that placed the explosives in the bank," he said. SAC Chuah said Malacca police had sought the help of the forensic department in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, to probe the incident and quickly nab the perpetrators. The police have yet to determine the type of explosives used and the mechanism applied to detonate the device. According to a source, CCTV footage showed two men placing the explosives minutes earlier at the ATM and they then waited outside the bank for the bomb to detonate. An eyewitness, Azran Yakoob, 38 said he was on his way to pack some food for sahur when he heard a thunderous blast. B. Rajkumaran, 34, who was collecting newspapers nearby, said he was jolted by the blast. "I was shaken by the blast that rattled the building I was standing close to," he said. The incident is being investigated under Section 457and Section 436 of the Penal Code and Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957, which carries a jail term of up to seven years or a fine of up to RM10,000 (S$,4094), or both, upon conviction.
