I had forgotten this thread existed. Let me bum everyone out with some sad news, because misery loves company.

 

Who else remembers Mr Tan Kim Cheng? He taught me Geography and also PE. He was a real gentleman, somehow gave the feel of being of the "classic" generation of old-school English masters (even more so than Wijeysingha, somehow). He was a thoroughly decent man. Long after school, I had one more encounter with him when he was warded at NUH where I was a junior doctor at the time (we had a pleasant chat reminiscing about the old days).

 

Anyway, I was very saddened when this news broke recently. Read in order:

I could not recall this great man (my poor memory) until I read the article - the name and the face jumped right out at me. RIP, Sir.
