this is where experience and skills comes in. Obviously none was shown on the clips.

well i have been in a similar situation before when it was raining and i tried at the last minute to turn but the car continued to skid forwards

what should i, or the driver in the video do when the car skids forwards despite the steering wheel already turned?

for me i jammed on the brakes and abs kicked in, saved myself quite costly repairs, unfortunately for the driver in the video, abs wasn't able to save him

other than releasing the brakes, i really don't know what else can a person do, unless you are thinking about accelerating which i think will require tons of courage that i don't have

Actually you got the answer in your last sentence....which is to accelerate or more precise - to introduce power to the front wheels and steer in the opposite direction to transfer weight.

the last time i skidded, i just let go the gas and steer in the right direction.

not sure if braking is a good idea even if u got ABS. if you are skidding, the car might even flip

[laugh] Thanks! This is my other Maltese, an old lady of 63 by doggie years.

Yeah...looks like if he/she had stayed the course, the car would have cleared the barrier.

I have seen quite a few cars cutting into this exit from lane 1 quite late to avoid the slower traffic at left-most lanes.

Moreover, once at the exit, still got Merchant Rd/Clemenceau Ave to choose from.

Worse if guided by GPS. Can't quite tell which is which at times.

i was within meters from the kerb and at the speed i was going it was probably < 1s from impact

the steering wheel was already turned to the right direction but the car remained straight

i had no time to wait for the car to steer in the right direction so i applied the brakes and jammed them real hard to activate the abs.
