How come my reply didn't get through yesterday?

Anyway, did he invite you to witness the test and hear for yourself, that sound came from steering wheel.

Sound from external or interior of cabin.

If sound from engine side, it will be rapid squeaking.

From steering wheel it will be generated when you turn steering wheel, so it will be slow and limited duration of 2-3 turns of steering wheels.

Just asking if steering is original or after market with boss kit installed. How is the freeplay?

I have not heard of steering wheel sound for more than 20yrs.

There is not oil inside the steering column. There are 2 mounting areas to locate and at most some light greasing.

Directly behide steering wheel area, look for bearing on the column. Some plastic cover removal may be needed expose it.

At the lower end of steering column, near padels and floorboard, there should be a universal joint. Sometimes in a rubber boot.

Grease this joint.

Yes, the sound will only be generated when turning the steering wheel. Original wheel, in fact, my whole car is stock.

My mechanic greased the lower end near the pedals like you mentioned yesterday but the sound persist.

Not sure about the area behind the steering wheel because my mechanic says need to remove the steering wheel to grease. I also not sure what he said is correct or not. In this case, I can DIY?

Not difficult to DIY.

Start by peaking under steering wheel, to look for the steering column bearing.

use telescopic extension tube to send in grease.

otherwise, try removing small easy to access plastic panel, or front cover of steering wheel to expose the securing nut- the brearing is usually behind the nut.

I cant be too specific, as different cars have slightly different designs and locations of bearings.
