ins1dious Turbocharged June 24, 2012 Share June 24, 2012 Right of way? Who gives a damn about that nowadays? As a pedestrian, you should always look after your own life, and not expect this and that from other parties. Right of way is one thing, but when insisting on that right of way gets you killed, what point does it bring? There are rules to keep us assured of our safety. The times I have experienced being almost run over - all the time by taxies - was not cos I just stepped out without looking. I approach the crossing looking out for cars, I make eye contact and sometimes point to the crossing itself. Always the same crossing - right turn from Shenton Way into Palmer Road. Always taxi. The fcking taxi drivers even then don't stop. And once this old far decided to accelerate once I was already halfway through. I'm right on wanting to carry a gun and shoot the son of a bitch right then and there. ↡ Advertisement
Junjie 1st Gear June 24, 2012 Share June 24, 2012 To those that on skates and on bicycle, please do not cross before the vehicle come to a complete stop. As a motorist, I have experienced enough such idiots that just dashed across on their bicycles or skates without even bother to stop before crossing. You are not only going to get hurt but also putting the drivers in a difficult spot and unneccessary trouble. For cyclists that want to have a fair share on the road, then they should be subjected to traffic laws and subjected to fines and punishment if they do wrong. Sp4wn Turbocharged June 25, 2012 Share June 25, 2012 Just whack the side of the vehicle with whatever you are holding when he drive past without stopping. Did that once to a 5 series with an umbrella who drove past without stopping too. He stopped some distance down and came out. I farked him up and ask him to call the police see who is at fault. In the end, he also LL drive away. It's at CBD too. heh .. same thing happened to me while helping my dad cross the zebra crossing outside mount E. we were already halfway thru the zebra crossing and a camry decided to squeeze past. i hit his side view mirror so hard it folded in. i waited for the guy to come out ... but he quickly drove off ... i did take down e license no though.. That's why sometimes civil justice is better than waiting for 'TP to fine them'. They are in the wrong, they will not dare to confront you. I also whacked the side mirror of vehicles (so that it folds outwards) who parked illegally for their own convenience but causes inconvenience to others. Be it at carpark or along the road. Stiener 1st Gear June 25, 2012 Share June 25, 2012 If the victim holds a camera capable of taking video, he should have done so. This is my usual practice, able to take a series of evidence that is linked. How to prove that the car in picture provided was the car involved in the accident especially if the damage to the car is minimal. It takes less than a day to rectify small damages. Vulcann 6th Gear June 25, 2012 Author Share June 25, 2012 (edited) Parked my ride at the multi-storey CP at Downtown East couple of weeks back and was walking on the zebra crossing when a red taxi just zoomed slowly across barely 0.1mm in front of me. The charbo driver was turning her head behind talking to her passenger all this while and not looking while moving ahead. Furious, I tapped on the roof and she quickly turned her head back and wind down the window when I made the winding down motion. This was the conversation: Me: Do you know this is a zebra crossing for pedestrians? Cabby: Sorry I was only trying to make a living. Me (even more pissed): You will not be able to make a living if you knocked over someone on a crossing! Cabby: Sorry sir I did not see you and only trying to make a living. Me (had had enough of the trying-to-make-a-living pitch): Whatever. There are many children using the zebra-crossing and please be careful the next time, AUNTIE! Cabby: I will. Sorry... I just walked off without wanting to hear the make-a-living part. Edited June 25, 2012 by Vulcann

Ungtiong 2nd Gear June 25, 2012 Share June 25, 2012 both are wrong....the rollerblader and the first driver..they could have cause accident for the car behind (if any). They should bring back the traffic school and teach kids on how to properly cross a zebra crossing...they they should fine (same as jay walking) for crossing the road dangerously. Driver too must be fine heavily. yesterday i stopped at a zebra crossing (as usual the pedestrian was looking at his iphone with earphones on, just walking across the zebra crossing without looking), the car behind horn me and overtook, almost knocking the guy down. The guy did not even know and the driver just speed on (in front of the pedestrian). BOTH should be fine....
Sabian Turbocharged June 25, 2012 Share June 25, 2012 Sad to say you maybe right in this. For example folks seem to promptly throw out the seat belting requirements out of their car windows once out of our state boundary nowadays... We are likely to only comply with rules when there are heavy fines looming over us even though these rules are basically in existence for our very own safety. Very hard to "persuade". Hang the pig head and hit them where it hurts, then the msg will sink in.
Ninja Clutched June 25, 2012 Share June 25, 2012 The driver will be charge for failling to look out for pedestrian at a designated pedestrian crossing.Good luuck to the driver Pedestrian means any human being that is crossing the road at designated crossing. No matter how or what. Mrmilktooth Supercharged June 25, 2012 Share June 25, 2012 should charge the roller blader also. I dont think a roller blader equates to the definition of pedestrian right? Just like a cyclist has to disembark from the bicycle and push the bike across the road. a person who goes or travels on foot; walker. - the literal meaning of the word pedestrian if a cyclist did not push the bicycle across the crossing, then kena bang .. just for discussion sake.. who's liable for it?? SimonTan 2nd Gear June 25, 2012 Share June 25, 2012 How can this be Hit n Run? If the bruised thumb is the MOST serious of injury, then this surely cannot be deem as hit and run? The bruised thumb is like a gentle fall and self injury? Where is the droken bones when the leg stuck at the bumper, etc? No injury on leg? ↡ Advertisement
