He also said that at the time he had hit Miss Tan, he had been driving at only three kilometres per hour.

Yep and my grandma is the present captain of Battlestar Galactica <_<

I think I read the argument is the somehow the Mingwei was walking exactly at the A-pillar blind spot of the bus driver obscuring the deceased presence and the curvature of the turn the bus made somehow kept the deceased exactly in the blind spot all the while. So there is no way the bus driver can know that the deceased is right in front of the bus.

Just need to hire a good lawyer and a good physics expert witness to do the maths!

Thereby pushing the blame completely to the bus design and the unique road turning curvature, that inadvertently lead to the death.

sometime really cannot see. Last tuesday a girl walk in the middle of the road near the entrance to the service road to my carpark.

i was turning right and did not see her as she was hidden by my front pillar. looked straight n right no vehicle n pedestrian as

it was arnd 9 pm i just drove on n the girl appeared suddenly in front of my car. cb...she was chatting on her hp and oblivious to

my car. wanted to horn her but decided not to. Some young pple can be really engrossed with their hp/ipod or whatsoever that they

become a danger to others!

Hypersonic

It was not proven beyond reasonable doubt that the driver was at fault. So the driver has to be given the benefit and the not guilty verdict was given.

yes sometimes turning slowly really cannot see.

happen to me quite a few times

but thats where experience comes.

as a expereince driver you know you may be block by the pillar of the car so you take extra care when you turn at slow speed.

you also turn your head a bit further out to make sure instead of being lazy and taking for granted.

unfortunate that a life was lost here.

a totally not guilty verdict is b-------t. there must have been some part of negligence or carelessness on the drivers part.

unless a crazy bugger suddenly jumps in front of your moving bus and you hit him, then i say not guilty 100%

ya true...but shoudnt the onus be on the pedestrian to make sure that there are no vehicle passing. Safety works

both ways but when one party neglect his/her part...he/she may lose more than a licence. Just yesterday a cyclist

dash thru a traffic light but i had anticipated his action n stopped to let him past.

yes pedestrian should not be stupid enough to get in the way.

but driver should not be stupid enough not to see at 3km/hr.

3km/hr is human adult walking pace.

for a bus it is almost at standstill, look at speedo also cannot see if it is 3km/hr...i suspect driver not honest

Ironic and sad..

Wonder if the verdict would be different had it been a local.

Definitely.

If it a local bus driver killing a caucasian girl, no amount of excuses will spare him. :D
