Logically if Simgapore is the fourth most visited destination in the world.

Then of course we can say the sex peddlers, the conmens, the scums of the world will also be likely to visit Singapore too.

Then in such case in all studies, Simgapore will be on top of the list of such unsavory characters visits statistically speaking.

It's how one use such statistics to present the storyline.

SINGAPORE - Indonesian school counsellor Erika Sutopo, 29, is a self-proclaimed fan of Singapore. She loves the clean and green garden city with its neatly laid-out streets, great ease of moving around, and the numerous shopping and dining options available until the late hours.

The Jakarta resident makes it a point to visit Singapore at least twice a year, mainly for leisure and to spend time with friends and family here.

"I always have a good time when I come here - eating, shopping, and visiting some of the local attractions or just hanging out at one of the cafes or pubs," she said.

"There's always something new coming up in Singapore."

Foreigners like Ms Sutopo have thrust Singapore to the fourth position in the world for visitor arrivals and fifth for cross-border spending this year, according to a MasterCard forecast released yesterday.

The study, which tracked direct air travel between 132 cities, found Singapore lags only London, Paris and Bangkok in wooing international visitors. It triumphed even more renowned cities like New York, Rome and Beijing.

Some 11.8 million tourists are expected to visit Singapore this year, up 9.9 per cent from the number last year. This places Singapore as the highest- ranking destination city in a developed market, other than Tokyo.

The top five cities from where visitors to Singapore are expected to come this year are Jakarta, Hong Kong, London, Manila and Tokyo.

To add to the good news, tourist spending in Singapore is forecast to come in at a whopping US$12.7 billion (S$16.2 billion) this year - the fifth-largest amount in the world. This is 12.4 per cent higher than the US$11.3 billion raked in last year, when Singapore was placed seventh in attracting tourism dollars.

Visitors from London, Jakarta and Hong Kong are expected to be the biggest contributors to the tourism dollar.

Tourists from London are forecast to spend some US$1.38 billion in Singapore, while those from Jakarta and Hong Kong are expected to spend about US$1.33 billion and US$867 million, respectively. Dr Yuwa Hendrick Wong, global economic adviser at MasterCard, pointed out that Asia, as a whole, has increasingly become one of the most sought-after travel destinations as emerging giants China and India continue to draw more international interest.

"The rise of destination cities such as Harbin and Xi'an in China adds to the potential increase of visitors to other regional countries like Singapore, especially since visitors who travel a long way to this part of the world would usually want to visit more than just one destination in Asia," he said.

He noted that Singapore now has an increasingly diversified network of origin cities. But Singapore cannot rest on its laurels, said Dr Wong.

"The challenge is for Singapore to attract visitors for longer duration, as those who come here usually stay for very short periods," he said.

"Travellers are increasingly willing to pay for experiences - those which are authentic and compelling...Singapore needs to look into building up such offerings and turning them into a competitive advantage."

Ain't that the mentality of an elitist where we are all good and others are bad? If others gives us a bad review than there must be some findings towards this input. Just take it with a pinch of salt accept the criticism and try to improve things.

TOP TEN TOURISM DESTINATIONS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENDERS

Because most pedaphiles are English speaking, knows the Internet and have the ability to travel to seek victims in poorer surrounding countries.

I will not be surprised Singapore is THE the main starting destination to exploit innocent and children in poverty in surrounding counties like Philippines, Cambodia, Thailand and Indonesia.

This is a known issue for very long time.

Australian mega-brothel gets go-ahead

Wednesday, Jun 20, 2012

SYDNEY - A Sydney brothel has received the green light for a multi-million-dollar expansion which will see it become Australia's largest sex premises, with rooms featuring multiple beds and pool tables.

Plans to double the number of rooms at inner Sydney's "Stiletto" into a mega-brothel complex were knocked back late last year by the city council on the grounds that it was too big.

But the owners won an appeal to the Land and Environment Court this week, with Commissioner Susan O'Neill ruling the A$12 million (S$15.5 million) development, including a wing for group bookings, should go ahead.

"The issue of a moral objection to the nature of the activities of a sex premises were raised by some of the public submissions and resident objectors," O'Neill said in the judgement seen by AFP Wednesday.

"As a sex premises is a legal land use and permissible... with consent, moral objections to the proposal are not relevant considerations."

O'Neill said Stiletto's operation to date had been assessed by the council as "acceptable and better than most" brothels in the city, and the proposed expansion to 40 rooms had addressed traffic and other concerns.

Stiletto promotes itself as "the world's finest short-stay boutique hotel and Sydney brothel". Its standard hourly rate of A$370 includes room, lady of choice and beverages.

It is open 24 hours each day of the year except for Christmas Day and boasts a "mixed clientele" which it claims includes top-end celebrities including movie stars, sportspeople and rock bands.

Prostitution in Australia is governed by state and territory laws with brothels being legal in some parts of the country, including New South Wales, while in other areas, such as the Northern Territory, they are banned.
