just got a flyer in my letterbox from Gain City.

they are having a sale ( aren't they always??) ... and those with the conversion letter can get $200 off new digital tv set from Gain City instead of $100 stated on the letter !

but frankly I dunno how the regular prices are at Gain City.

Gain city digital TV set box made in where? Most in the market are made in China . I got mine from best Denki parkway for my MBR at $89 only!

So gaincity give $100 to $200 discount mean free TV set box? Ha ha

Who is gain city boss?

If govt wanna give out free set top box, just need to buy themselves and hire an agent to give out free (like how those CC companies do it).

By giving a 100$ voucher, it is as if they are throwing 80$ to gain city and the like. Actual cost of the box is 20 bucks max.

the $200 discount is for tv with built in digital receiver.

so basically the tv will already be more pricier than those ready tvs.

anyway, my free delivery and install was done in under 10 mins ... just plug and play ... did not run the cables (coz i intend to use it at my parents place) ... and worst part was that the guy was late and had to change appt .... so i gave him a satisfactory grading only.

When I received the letter from IMDA,  I call them at 6655 5571 to arrange for free delivery of the Set-up box and Antenna package plus installation.  Almost immediately I received a sms informing me the installation Appt date. The guy also informed me that he has registered me for the lucky draw.

Using NewMedia Solutions's set top box, was given free from IMDA. Received all SG (local) DVB-T2 TV channels, Malaysia DVB-T2 TV channels, and Malaysia 4 DAB Channels. Tested during heavy rain, getting excellence Signal Intensity and Signal Quality for all Malaysia DVB-T2 TV channels .

Got the free set top box from IMDA. Tried it and working well.

Where to buy more?

I'd suggest getting a new tv that support "digital tv". No point getting another box with another controller with another power point with another hdmi cable.

How come in this day and age still need antenna and have to pull it as far away as possible away from TV? It is like going backwards and I think is unsightly. On the mediacorp videos, they conveniently bring in a artificial wall to place beside the TV so as to stick the antenna onto the wall.
