What is you real purpose of owning >1 car?

My neighbour has 2 cars

 

Hub and wife, childless, with a dog and 1 maid.

Drives S350, and SLK compressor.

 

Hub is businessman, Wife, stay at home, play with dog, shopping with dog. Is this wasteful?

I see at least 3-4 cars at home most of the time, spoke to them before.

 

(some of them are spare cars in case car bring to servicing or repairs...)

I can tell you Jap car is still more reliable. They are small/simple things/details that we take for granted in the Jap cars.

They dont make them like they used to as consumer behavior is such they dump car after 5 years+? So whats the point in making things last forever when people would just dump them anyway? So just make them last till warranty

So 3 cars in the family, and you keep 2 cars for your own use.

nothing wrong with more cars....anyway these cars are less likely to be causing the road jams, same as OPC....the real problem is the jams during peak hours (go to work and come back from work). Singapore actually still not so crowded with cars. The solution is not as simple as 'reduce total no cars'.....remove all the OPC and these types of car, there will be negligible or even no impact on the road jams...

These cars serve different purposes . The French car is more like experimental , lots of problem here and there but still feel great to drive . Ok lah, touch wood, drive several times to and fro SG and KL still ok. Haven't tackle Gentings though.

1 car for own use, 2nd car cos ppl say your siblings or family no money drive car, so they buy, 1st car aveo mini one, then suddenly camry2.4 then another one...ferry kids...go office...etc from my nearby neighbourhood...and they stay all together...no money buy house...last few years back..until now still the same...

 

some buy cos some girls like certain cars, will flip skirt nearby and claim wind very strong YOU SOTONG!....

 

some rent out so drive for fun...many cars so many choices, today taxi driver or limo driver, tmr, sell the car, up the coe.

 

some may scared wife or brother tamper with car brake kanna killed in accident, so more car more probabilities...more chance to die....

 

if driver killer someone, he can say his friend drive his car, meanwhile he has other cars to drive...means he drove another car.

 

those bmw no money wannabe, just bought within these 3 years got NO CLASS....cos you will know the difference in driver attitude...a true bmw is friendly not in a rush and very courteous in all aspects...so buy bmw to tell people you have class.... then buy different cars so you have other character....but drive sunny or others out....arrh you know who...one.....so many to what? car dealer la...

buy so many car, because make ah mad no time to wash and complain to your friends...YOU ARE FU_CKING RICH...! boy..U R RICH!

 

then the chaffeur can drive in your car make love good good...instead of you...and pao tou your scandals and u kanna blackmail...cos?? U R RICH!

 

so u can do condo visiting and leave your car for your mistress, then another car can come and commit you, to tell wifey u are busy and CAR broke DOWN.....

 

when market down, you can sell many many cars....same with coe up situation...only RICH people KNOWS....aren't they GODLY...

 

sell you car plate number also make money...BUT need CAR to register the plate...coe long time buy already...stupid~!

if u want less ppl to buy cars so there is less market = car will be cheaper....sorry lar. I also want less ppl to buy iphones so i dont look stupid carrying a phone what every auntie and uncle are using. We cannot force ppl not to buy things. If u want less ppl to buy car so there are less traffic, then the jams are mainly caused by those working...so those driven by tai tais, rich kids less likely to be contributing to the jams (they dont wake up so early...and they are not stupid enough to join in the jam when they dont need to). SC carparks on the the hand...but thats hardly a critical issue.

 

So to solve traffic problem, must force those working east stay west etc to NOT buy a car...but thats not correct.
