Hi all, quite curious about this issue.

Those cars on belts, need to change belts, bearings, pump etc

Those cars on chains, no need to change bearings and pumps meh???

Btw any bros driving Getz 1.3, my fil driving, like to know whether chain or belt?

Many thanks

Getz is timing belt, needs to change. For hyundai car, i think only from avante onwards is using timing chain.

On chain u still need to change the pump n check on belt for aircon etc.

chain usually need not change unless it gets really really noisy then you prob need to take a look.

timing chain tensioners need changing

chain might requires changing too.

Mine was stretched at 40k km, and it was changed under warranty. That will include tensioners too.

For peace of mind and savings on labour charge, change all at one go.

If you never change anything before, better change everything, the belt, water pump etc. Unless you are changing second time, then maybe listen to what advise your mechanic says.
