What brand is this?

If nothing too extreme, I would choose a 3050 based system because the 3050Ti is a rip off (esp since it's a 4gb VRAM).
U need a 3060 6gb VRAM to be really superior. Those tend to be around >2k.

3050 should be able to play most games 1080p at pretty ok frame rates. Medium settings for some AAA games but can run high on older ones. Cannot do 1440p gaming usually, that's for 3060 GPU cards and above.

Aftershock should have RTX 4050 based laptops already if u want to consider. The 4050 is definitely better than a 3050. So u may want to consider that.

Wah but this acer is very light and small. 1.4kg only.

Difference between the 1.4k vs 1.6k is just purely the 8 core ryzen vs the 6 core ryzen.

Personally I won't really pay for the difference unless ur son does some highly intensive cpu applications for school work. It can affect gaming but probably not going to be a huge bottle neck.

This swift x is quite tempting (form factor and some gaming capability).

I've been looking for a laptop but more at like 15 inch ones.

I tink they do have 16" variant...my son prefers 14 and below for ease of carrying in his backpack. Even his konk out lappy was only 15 but he uses another high resolution monitor for gaming...he now wants a even higher resolution monitor...i was like...really necessary for his fast moving shooting game? Can see virtual enemies better is it? 😂

Can snipe better. But u need a lot more gpu power to drive a high framerate at resolution 1440p. 4k is bonkers. U would need the top end cards to drive those.

For school definitely 14 inch.

By the way, if interested in Dell and one don't mind refurbished units which come with full manufacturer's warranty, can try the Dell official outlet at https://www.dell.com/en-sg/outlet. Sometimes there are pretty good deals for the mid-high end models with full 2 or 3 years warranty provided.

Not affiliated in anyway.  Just sharing.

Just like you I see a chair as a chair. Why must buy gaming chair?

A table is a table why must buy gaming table?

Keyboard, mouse, monitor . . .

:D

The most important is internet speed.

So I am getting for boy boy Simba 2.5Gbps for only $20 per month!

I know I know I really spoil my kids.

Only the best for them.

I was at Harvey Norman factory outlet at Chai Chee yest.

saw quite a few refurnished units for sale, home use and gaming laptops. all with regular warranty and of course discounted.

may be worthwhile making a trip there.

I was mulling a refurbished Asus 14" laptop for home use but decided skip cos it was only Ryzen 3.
