Jojor Neutral Newbie March 19, 2015 Share March 19, 2015 Breastfeeding is the best. Proof, my eldest was born premature and was on Similac Pre-mie, 1 & 2. Second was premature and youngest son full term, both breastfed. Comparing their swimming ability: Oldest Son 50-Free time when he was 11: 36 sec Second Son 50-Free when he was 10: 32 sec Youngest Son 50-Free when he was 8: 37.5 sec He was diagnosed with ADHD /learning disability earlier and had to enroll in special education when he was 8. But he had since got out of that and seems to be doing well in his study. Verdict has yet to be out for the other two younger siblings. BTW, Similac smell and taste bad. ↡ Advertisement

The stage 1 is the one that taste bad. That's probably the one u tasted. There's no smell. The stage 2 onwards all taste pretty similar, bit sweet. BFing is always best. my 2nd one, my wife has enough breast milk to feed him.
Donut Supercharged March 20, 2015 Share March 20, 2015 I give my boy Nan HA when really young, now is NAN Pro 3. Nan is good coz no sugar inside, taste rather bitter. Heard that Nan is closest to BF milk. Just for everyone's information: In SG, the Nan formula sold in tins, are from Swiss. There is another kind of refill packs that are sold in cartons. These are made in Pinoy. But its slightly cheaper i compared the ingredients of both, looks exactly the same.

So many other variables to take into account (not just milk) and every child is different genetically even though parents are the same.... Even twins can have big difference in ability even if they drink the same milk....

But quality of milk is highly dependent on the feed and nutrition that they get. I'd rather the source of milk come from a western country. This is how the melamine scandal first originated from. Poor quality milk from undernourished cows in China. Cows who can't produce enough quality milk due to their surroundings.
Simonsoh 2nd Gear May 28, 2015 Author Share May 28, 2015 wow... similac really very creative when they want to up their price. this time round no up price no tweak name to proclaim more nutrients added. Now stage 4 1800g tin no more in production. change to 1600g tin. u guessed it... price did not go down proportionally. 1800g used to be about $69. means 1600g tin proportionally should be $61+.... but no.... 1600g tin is retailing $66.40.... means they creatively raised about $5.... Aquanark Clutched January 5, 2017 Share January 5, 2017 Dear all, Just found out the current similac stage 3 milk powder sold in SG is now made in SG as well. It used to be from Ireland - same as those sold in JB. Does anyone know if the current similac stage 3 milk powder selling in JB is still from Ireland? Or from other places?
Boringchap Turbocharged March 24, 2017 Share March 24, 2017 Read the Straits Times article about milk powder woes today and honestly was quite shocked to find out that prices of milk powder had gone up by almost 120% over 10 years. I do remember buying Similac for my kids more than a decade ago and already I found it a bit steep. Scary, these prices. But I did a quick scan of US and UK prices, and found that Similac in the UK is really cheap! One-third the price of Singapore for a comparable tin, I think. Video below.
Showster Twincharged March 24, 2017 Share March 24, 2017 Just bought 2 tins for $139.50 at NTUC. 1 tin is $79.50 I think. And that is for the cheapest age group from Similac. I will work harder.
Kangadrool Supersonic March 24, 2017 Share March 24, 2017 Luckily I chose Friso. It was one of the few brands with less shocking price increase.

Kim sang is cheaper when not having any special promo... This was the price on Tuesday for stage 3. Kim sang is just 78 per tin. 70 for stage 4. Currently Abbott has twenty dollar voucher for 220 dollar purchase from ntuc. Which I don't think is worth it even with 5 percent cash back on cc. ↡ Advertisement
