Kb27 Supersonic June 5, 2012 Share June 5, 2012 why get a smartphone is you dun need data?? I do need data, but minimum. For my usage, it's mainly to update google contacts. Retrieve info. But just small bits of data. I seldom used it to surf or watch video. So I still a data plan to cover that. Otherwise, without data bundle, the chargeable rate will be hell. Jokerd 2nd Gear June 5, 2012 Share June 5, 2012 iPhone has iCloud and Siri, both which require data usage, HTC OneX comes with cloud storage, most likely future phones will be similar, those phone users will be paying through the nose for their data. Gary469 1st Gear June 5, 2012 Share June 5, 2012 the drop is too much, i think 5-6 gb would be more ideal..
Joseph22 Turbocharged June 5, 2012 Share June 5, 2012 Just a note Singtel talk time is much lower and no per sec billing. For eg the $59.90 Singtel 200 min free. Starhub is 300 IIRC singtel normally used other value added services (not the customer service type of service) to boost up their value.
Bystander50 5th Gear June 5, 2012 Share June 5, 2012 Data usage is the in thing now, network slowness and over utilised are simply excuses. With such high data usage, this is a golden egg, definitely they'll want to earn from there, it's all for commercial profits. You think the telcos really care about your surfing experience? Try complaining their service levels, see if they'll do something. If the networks are slow or overstretched, why didn't the telcos thought of expanding it progressively when they are offering the 12gb plans? Are the telcos following SMRT's footsteps? It is not as if there is a sudden spike of subscribers overnight or they lack the monitoring systems to notice the increase. I would simply put it as 90% do not exceed the 12gb, but 10% does and these 10% won't bring them sufficient revenue from data plans against the erosion of profits from sms and residential phones. Reduce to 2gb, at least 50% will bust the quota. And Starhub is also ending the free digital voice in july.

I think 3G CMI, how come they so laggy. ST is crap. Time to take out my Nokia 5100. Any bro know where to get compatible batts? Dangerous or not? Tyongchi 1st Gear June 5, 2012 Share June 5, 2012 I suppoprt the data reduction. Like users why support the heavy users? I hardly exceed 300 MB per month. The increase in sms is much welcome for us who cannot carry camera phones in our work place. Furthermore, it adds value to my existing plan of sharing my line (primarily sms) with my daughter. You are very easily taken in by what the telcos say. Why is the telco slashing down to 2gb instead of 5-8gb? Don't you find the answer obvious? 2gb very easy to bust the limit and they can start earning the revenues from there. Fix at 5-8gb, wat's the percentage of people that will bust it? And even at 2gb limit, what makes you think that you'll get more speed. Everybody's billing cycle is different. People who want to use will still use. Just like COE is to contral traffic, yet the jams are still there. Gov increasing ERP just proves that the COE scheme isn't working. It's rubbish that light users are subsidying heavy users. A 12gb user whether use little or full still pays the same amount. Will my telco refund me for the unused quota? The problem of congestion lies with their infrastructure. The telcos are moving towards 4G and hence they are unwilling to invest more on the current 3G infrastructure. Up to you to believe it or not, when majority of the people move on to 4G, u'll face the same issue. The telcos are just using this as an excuse to boost their revenue.
