erm, saab did not cross my mind as i was worried about the after sales service and parts? and it does not make sense in buying a brand new car in today's coe outlook when the brand is in receivership. :) But i drove saab before in australia. very solid car.

Nope, I help to neg for him base price at $154k in March Volvo anniversary roadshow for his 2012 model, can select color, but he top up extra for DVD/ front LCD system and both rear headrest entertainment system and 3 yrs full servicing. After add up around $160k, Don't think can get this pricing now and his coe secured at $57k. Remember list price then was $162,888

Hi Simon,

I test drove both the c class and the s60.

what i felt from the c class was that the 5 speed auto gearbox was really sluggish and there was not enough power as compared to the s60. the c class sounded very unrefined and rough whereas the s60 was smoother and quieter. there was no noticeable jerks from the gear box while shifting gears.

in terms of build quality, the s60 has softer plastics as compared to the c class and the leather seats in the s60 is much more comy then the c class. i find the c class leather seats a tad too hard and stiff. If i am not wrong, the seats should be made of man made leather? Im not too sure as i did not ask the se.

i feel that the suspsension set up in the s60 is also more comfortable then the c class. it absorbs humps and bumps better then the c class. it is quite comparable to the previous version of the e class imho.

however, the s60 only has full electric memory seats on the driver's side and only manual levers on the passenger side. whereas the c class has both semi auto seats in front?

also, the c class is more expensive then the s60. the c class was going for 189k whereas s60 was 164k.

therefore, after careful conclusion, decided to book the s60. finally, Volvo offers 3 years free servicing and maintenance which includes wear and tear?

the only thing that loses out is of cos the badge.

Good choice on the S60... Seeing too many C on the road lately but Merc is always deemed more prestigious. Hopefully the next 2013/4 newly revamp C class will come soon and pls no more facelift. Already told my wife that the next car to get

very true that the volvo is made in belgium whereas the c180 is made in germany. However, it is really not much of a difference as both countries are in EU and they have to follow the same protocols and sop stated in the TFEU. So QC will be the same. no difference is car is built in germany or in belgium. unless its built in the country which bears the same name as your nick :P

well, concierge will of cos think merc is better due to the badge as merc is more established in sg. however, a merc will also be overlooked if a lambo or ferrari pulls up. so it does not make a difference. most important is that i think the car i booked represents good value.

yea. its the s60 t4. the most basic model lol! the styling kit costs 4k! too ex in my opinion. not gonna spend 4k for abit of chrome trim here and there plus exhaust tips. rather use the cash to go on holiday. lol!

thanks for your kind words!

any tips to share?

btw, i forgot to ask my se if the car comes with ipod connector? anyone driving the s60 t4 has this option?

decided to go for the s60 after testing various cars such as the roc, c lass and fluence as i felt that the s60 is the most comfortable and the pick up is the best! press abit on the accelerator the car fly liao. nice!

Wow!! Congrats to you. Volvo have improved in their designs. It used to be squarish ones, my dad drove. But is indeed a solid tank with more refinements and effort put in design. [drivingcar][thumbsup]

Supercharged

Err S60 T5 0-100 is 7.5 sec nia.

Even the Merc C300 (sub-7 secs) can beat it!

So much for a T5 <_<

wah, c300 so power ah?

how much ah?

thank you!

the design and the drive comfort has improved tons as compared to the 940! lol.

940 no power at all. haha.

but that was about 12 years back lar.

i find their dash design similar to the saab 9-3 in terms that it looks like a airplane cockpit!

T4 is nice, 1.6L turbocharged. 9seconds+ for century sprint.

If based on pick up, the entry level 1.4TSI twincharged scirocco is faster but it doesnt fly [laugh] but 2 doors 4 seater.

C-class is also faster, the C200 CGI variant but i guess it is more costly.
