Lucky, Buddhist does not need to pay and pay. But I'm still hate to see monks ferry around with luxury cars and accepting expansive gifts for followers. Recent case I saw a a group of followers buying a OSIM message chair to the monk and believe he comes from a local temple. Buddha don't do that, but instead spread the teachings and help the sick/poor. -_-

I like the Buddha.

Maybe the monks sit in the lotus position and meditate all day

and then sit too long and get backache so need the osim

massage chair to sooth away the aches and pain?

:D

So I am wronged that Singapore, still have a few ones like this. We need more of this person and the world will be a better place to live in. But how many?? I believe can count within my hands. [shakehead]

There are many so don't worry.

You cannot just count pastors.

i know my parish priest of whom both he and his brother are into priesthood. Their parents has to downgrade from bigger flat to a smaller one as they hardly earn enough.

I know our God will bless them both and their family.

our normal diocesean priests do not take vow of poverty.

but the rest IIRC do.

Jesuits i heard heard is one of the "strictest"

Not the strictest iin term of personal rules but the toughest to get ordained as they are those who are deepest in theology study and longest studying period of 11 years. I have a choir mrmber who joined the jesuit when my son was about 1. He's now 10 still not over yet. Went to South Africa and Philippines during the course...

The only problem I hv wif them is that they charge for conducting prayers at wakes. Don't quite see the logic in this.

That is why. The devil is the man himself. Since I am not aware of this case, you could check why the reason behind. Sometimes, of funds needed to run the operation. If they cannot answer this, than I don't know what to say. I every society to group, we humans are animal-like following the leader that we think is right. But seldom have critical thinking of the in-depth of the whole process. We follow just because he/she deem shining among the rest.

The CIPB was called in, becuase a few could have gone through this critical thinking process after being a converted member. This few could have wake up. [idea]

So this is a very good example. Monk suppose to be selfless and free from all forms of comfort and earthing's materials. Entering a monk-hood is not easy. But human himself have changed to suit his instead. <_<

It takes a leap of faith to serve fellow bros and sis who need help. Even more so in Singapore where material well-being is all important.

For those who see a greater good to put aside his/ her own comfort for the sake of God and fellow people, they will be blessed. Many whom i talked to shared with me that in terms of money, they never had to worry as somehow, God will give them what is needed.

Man are fallible and gullible!

Yet Man idealised his inabilities onto an all powerful being so that his alter ego could be satisfied.

In the end, did man make (in the form of fantasy) God or God made man?

A friend of mine quit his job as a university professor to work as a church pastor. Pay cut by 80% but still working there after 10+ years. House downgraded to HDB and drives a coming to 20 year old COE car.

WOW.. i respect your friend for his dedication to his religion.

BTW was your friend in research ? I hope he was not working on the cure for cancer, it would seem a waste of his talent for mankind..

Are you trying to imply that, mankind is the cancer? Or the sins of man is the cancer??

If the pastor have the ability to find the cure for cancer, it would be for the greater good that he spends his time on research. And not tending to lost sheeps.

Anyway, maybe the guy was from banking or law.... so yes better he became a pastor. [laugh] [laugh]

Thats right, the cancer of greed, love of money, fear of losing money, ego, arrogance & selfishness.

That kind of cancer brings the most suffering.

C'mon, religious people or organization also has expenses and bills to pay. Expect free meh.... Also, they no need to spend money to travel to the place meh? <_<

Charging a fee is also good so that it's fair to everyone. If they charge exorbitant price then that's another story.....

Sins of mankind are the worst cancerous growth that unseen by the nake eye and

No knife can cut away,

No Radiation can zap away

No medicine can dissolve away

Only by 1 way can it be removed.
