Sunny Hypersonic June 4, 2012 Share June 4, 2012 I am with you on this. The chuch is not the building but the people. He came not to call the rich and healthy but the poor and sick He came to call the lepers, the poor, the hungry, the dying, the outcast of society. I don't go to church but I read that he came to give his love, kindness, warmth, affection and his life to the people. I never read that he came to collect money from them! I also read he turn over the tables of the money changers at the temple Now we have chuches with credit card machines? soon giro might be implemented

Wyfitms Twincharged June 4, 2012 Share June 4, 2012 No pastors like this? I do believe that many of the catholic priests live a frugal lifestyle. And spend most of their time with the sick & poor

Wyfitms Twincharged June 4, 2012 Share June 4, 2012 I notice the traditional churches seem more to serve God than collect money. The Catholic bishop of Johor drives a Myvi. The traditional churches also cannot make donation by credit card as far as I know. A friend of mine quit his job as a university professor to work as a church pastor. Pay cut by 80% but still working there after 10+ years. House downgraded to HDB and drives a coming to 20 year old COE car.
Babyt 4th Gear June 4, 2012 Share June 4, 2012 done so long ago.... have they implemented interest-free loan from church to donate to church? LOL? they can work w banks to call members if they want to loan money for donations LOL....received many such calls asking ppl to borrow money when u dont need it. crazy banks. And spend most of their time with the sick & poor Before anyone refuting this, let me say that only the nuns take the vow of poverty. Unless they are from specific orders such as the fransciscans and maybe the dominican, the secular(not sure if this is the right term) orders do not take the vow of poverty, only celibacy... If I'm not mistaken, the franciscan will not even sleep on soft bed. Only hard surface. Those who does not take the vow of poverty, some do have some form of income, like accepting ang pow from funeral, weddings, baptism, getting paid for writeing books, giving seminars, etc.

Wyfitms Twincharged June 4, 2012 Share June 4, 2012 This is the kind of pastor I have the most admiration and respect for. Same here. He's near retirement age but never even mention a word of stepping down. Despite having kidney & many other health problems and having to work very long hours (practically on call 24-7, unless on the rare instance of taking a short break)

Lucky, Buddhist does not need to pay and pay. But I'm still hate to see monks ferry around with luxury cars and accepting expansive gifts for followers. Recent case I saw a a group of followers buying a OSIM message chair to the monk and believe he comes from a local temple. Buddha don't do that, but instead spread the teachings and help the sick/poor. ↡ Advertisement
