Passion 5th Gear May 28, 2012 Share May 28, 2012 Likewise for my place. People start swarming in and chant together. It started about 8 plus and last heard them chanting at 12 plus in the midnight. Fantastic supporters! The next day morning, all gathered at hougang town council to wait for ah huat. All gear up to congrat him and shake his hand. People flying WP's flag from their window, bring out their hammer and wave. This is the unwavering spirit of Hougang supporters to WP. In fact, I find PEH speech not very fluent, but he still gets it. I guess it is about branding. Good job ah huat, do something to prove your worths for this 4 years! HUAT AH!! ↡ Advertisement
Passion 5th Gear May 28, 2012 Share May 28, 2012 I think PAP need to wake up their idea. They cannot be biting the hand that feeds an expect the hand still keep feeding them. Slowly Singaporean will show them who is the boss. Who in workplace tells off his or her boss? PAP need to know where their salary is coming from. Don't keep antagonize their "bosses". Timbuktu Clutched May 28, 2012 Share May 28, 2012 Was at the Hougang Blk 322 coffeeshop on Sat night... and man... the atmosphere was like when Singapore won the Malaysia cup back in the 90s... What was most heartening was that the crowd made up of 50% young and 50% older ppl... And everyone was shouting WP and HUAT AH at the very top of their voices... You won't see this in the rich, elite and upper class districts of Singapore lah.
Babyt 4th Gear May 28, 2012 Share May 28, 2012 (edited) last time, ppl dont dare to talk bad about MIW openly. now w online forums and facebook, ppl really comment and scold MIW openly. no more are we cowards who suffer silently. i think FB also helps alot. Joo Chiat is a unique place imo, i hope the influx of foreigners wont turn the place into next PRC-geylang/chinatown eateries. Preserve nonya cutlure in Joo Chiat, vote for the right party. I am sure PEH is as important as the WP branding judging by the landslide margin .... Imagine if WP field Goh Meng Seng I can name many PAP MPs who can't speak as well as PEH, and yet managed to get into parliment. PEH fought his way through .... one-on-one and WON

LoverofCar 6th Gear May 28, 2012 Share May 28, 2012 In 2016, if WP send in a strong candidate for Potong Pasir, this candidate will win. Potong pasir won't be SMC anymore lah....confirm plus chop stamp.....merge with bishan toa payoh....

Damienic 5th Gear May 28, 2012 Share May 28, 2012 Potong pasir won't be SMC anymore lah....confirm plus chop stamp.....merge with bishan toa payoh.... Actually these days the % of support which the PAP enjoys in GRCs have also been dwindling quite badly such that the absorption of "risky" SMCs into GRCs may not exactly be an entirely foolproof way, except probably for a few of them such as Pasir Ris Punggol, AMK, Tanjong Pagar. PAP garnered just 56%++ in Toa Payoh-Bishan in 2011. If Patong Pasir is absorbed in there, it can be a little risky for them too. Imagine if TPY-B GRC suffers say another 3-4% vote swing to opposition and the residents of PP is unhappy with Sitoh and there is another 3-4% swing in votes there, it could actually result in PAP losing the whole TPY-B GRC inclusive of PP. The entire east and north east isn't very safe for PAP except Pasir Ris-Punggol.

The entire east and north east isn't very safe for PAP except Pasir Ris-Punggol. GRC is a double-edge sword, slowly but surely. There's a possibility that more SMCs will be carved out from existing GRCs in 2016, especially those estates with more new citizens - example Pioneer was carved out from WC GRC in 2011. Damienic 5th Gear May 28, 2012 Share May 28, 2012 (edited) They will absorb it after the lift upgrading and estate improvement works... But can see that these days lift upgrading and estate renewal works is not so much the top priority for citizens anymore. Many people are angry with the immigration policies, high cost of living, smrt frequent breakdowns and etc etc. If these issues aren't adequately addressed in time, they may still not get the votes even if they go on full momentum with various upgrading and estate renewal work. Calvin79 2nd Gear May 28, 2012 Share May 28, 2012 Physically move or by stroke of pen? ok la... i speak only from my POV... cause many of my friends who stays HG have gotten flats in Punggol... hence high chance many new voters will be in punggol come 2016... that itself is scary for PxP as they must be thinking who these new voters will vote for... ↡ Advertisement
