But prob everyone now using that junction will be beri beri careful and such lessen the chance of accidents too! I also refering to many traffic light in Singapore that are quite close together. i.e Loyang ave ( towards TPE ) junction of old tampines road and junction of TPE exit. There are 2 more places that have similiar "design". Sembawang Road / Mandai Ave (10m) 2 traffic lights! It is an usual sense to see cars beat the red light (the one for meant for camp. Penang Road / Penang Lane -for pedestrian crossing and small lane right turn traffic light (30M after) a large T-junction traffic coming from Clemenceau Ave. I was once mislead while I was on my phone, lucky no pedestrain crossing and no car. + few more which maybe left out. Ryosuke 1st Gear May 28, 2012 Share May 28, 2012 (edited) After watching the video several times, I got a feeling that this accident seems like a ploy to deviate ppl from the anti prc sentiments. Not so simple of just another case of drunk driving. Edited May 28, 2012 by Ryosuke

Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 28, 2012 Share May 28, 2012 I am not sure did anyone noticed that right before the accident traffic junction, there is a pedestrian crossing traffic light probably just 30M away. This traffic light certainly always GREEN light between 3AM-6AM. Could this possible caused a mislead to both Ferrari and Lexus DRUNK drivers to overlook next big traffic juction 30m after? Not to mention drunk drivers, even sometime when we were on the phone drive, we overlooked some situation and kenna horned. You confessed to be another handphone driver? You ought to surrender your driving licence

marwing 1st Gear May 29, 2012 Share May 29, 2012 (edited) insurance must pay. if he pays and he bankrupt, how long u wanna wait to get your money? 3-4 years? insurance pay is best drink driving considered criminal case, not cover by insurance. Next time when you get into minor accident because of opposite drunk guy and you can smell hs alcohol breath, don't write in your accident report. Insurance wll run away big time. And don't call polce, let him go, take picture and claim his insurance. Edited May 29, 2012 by marwing

The confusing lights could well be one of the contributing causes for the accidents! Good observation. The pedestrian green lights should be turned off between 2-4am, not left lit as green. Meanmachine Supercharged May 29, 2012 Share May 29, 2012 Just my take .... Nothing wrong with that junction's traffic lights , but may be related to that set of lights about 20-30 meters before this . You see , that traffic light before this has one of the longest "GREEN MAN walk "timing during the day catered for the many who cross to & fro that buzzzy bugis alley . Now at night , authority may have tuned them to a very short or zero "GREEN MAN walk" timing as there are almost no crowd in the middle of the night , meaning the traffic lights are mostly GREEN for cars to past without uneccessary stops . However , the timing of the traffic lights for the accident prone junction , located 20-30 m after this , may have stayed as per normal and not tuned to night patterns . If some arse who's been vrooming all the way from the National Library's direction would have seen Green light at the first junction ...pickup speed .....past ILLUMINA shopping center .....another GREEN LIGHT .... pickup speed again , and maybe not expecting or forgetting that there is another traffic light just meters away ............. then suddenly at 20-30 m , lights turn from Amber to Red (which is quite fast in SG) .... adrenalin or turbo kicked in , and cum the fact that most cars' view at that intersection traffic situation would have been blocked by bushes covered along the center divider near that junction , .....too late to jam brakes & bang ! Just a thoery of traffic lights timing I observed at night ...so maybe the timing of the lights along that stretch need to be reviewed etc , Tuned the timing of the Traffic lights before that accident proned junction to be as per daytime ...change the driving manner of drivers who often drive through that stretch in the wee hours I have the same answer as yours, The calibration of green man vs the red light was wrongly tuned during day and night, ( I think ), resulting in this horrific accident, can LTA get some to check on the functionality ?
