Why Are Our Roads So Badly Worn Out??

Esp. expressways. I travel on CTE, PIE, BKE, KJE etc......almost on a daily basis.

The roads are super duper worn out. Some parts can see pot holes being repaired and come back and repaired again. Then the road markings also almost gone already. So faint......

I am just wondering what on earth is LTA doing??? Collect all the COE, road tax etc.... and this is the kind of standard we get?

Think it's the tar mixture that is the cause. Someone is not following the required specs........

Totally agree on this, the road conditions in sg are getting bad to worse. A lot of uneven roads and "depressions" even along highways.

Can I reply on behalf of LTA? Because the car population is increasing too fast and the maintainance of road remain the same, thus, the road wear is much obvious. This don't need rocket science to explain. Just like how HDB explain why flat not enough and how they solve the problem. It is to increase the building of more HDB. People, pls let me know if I've a mind of a minister? Maybe GE2016 can vote for me. I stand a independent part, so you all no need to headache when voting. [laugh] [laugh]

Same as our MRT system. Sudden increase in population and MRT system cannot cope with it......

It shows the myopic vision of some people

No lor, even when CTE was newly paved after they widened it, it was very bumpy. I too am convinced it is sub-standard work. Absolutely no doubt about it.

4 defects I notice about our roads

manhole covers or electrical square boxes type of protrusion jutting out from the road surfaces that mimics a sudden 'step'.....imagine you are the tire..this sudden impact..sure deteriorate our lubber

potholes are common which seem to be damaged by heavy vehicles..just ran over one at 60km/h while entering KJE from jalan bahar....even at this slow speed my car gave a sudden judder due to the size of this pothole

uneven road surfaces which accumulate water during heavy downpours..I was blinded for a few secs at least on a few occasions when a charging car on the next lane sped in the heavy rains and splashed road water on my windscreen.

road roughening which produces that grrrrrr sound especially found along expressways which enter into a sharp bend.

Make it mandatory to keep left for trucks, vans and large vehicles. This late morning on cte / pie / sle i saw trucks on left lanes and long line of vehicles behind. When i manage to overtake, driver was either meddling with phone, smoking or talking to passengers. Sigh

Then they should either coordinate the digs or ensure a minimum acceptable backfilling standard. Just so that diggings keep recurring doesn't mean you just anyhow backfill to save costs.

Yes.

Is it the case of..?

Always wait some big incident happens then hoohaa then discuss then ding dong ?

By the time some 'solutions' were decided at the top it takes yet another incident to restart the whole cycle again before it reach bottom to execute.
