Quantum 5th Gear May 24, 2012 Share May 24, 2012 I'm working Middle East, and rent car is Corolla 1.8A, Dual VVTi, similar Singapore Altis 1.8, in Middle East road condition FC only 11+km/L, 80% express way and speed over 120km/h though Dual VVTi should give better FC, because my civic 1.8M also can give me 12+km/L in Singapore condition has dual vvti owner got same expreience ↡ Advertisement
Tireburner 3rd Gear May 24, 2012 Share May 24, 2012 Dude petrol costs almost the same as a bottle of mineral water. Just enjoy driving the car.
Passion 5th Gear May 24, 2012 Share May 24, 2012 Bro, you are going at a obscene speed, don't expect a 4 speeders to give you a good FC. They optimum speed is about 80 to 110km/h.
Harveypeng Neutral Newbie May 24, 2012 Share May 24, 2012 The petrol price there is like tap water. Why care about FC?
Darthrevan Supercharged May 24, 2012 Share May 24, 2012 you may have to factor in increased wind resistance which is affecting ur fuel consumption
Tohto Hypersonic May 24, 2012 Share May 24, 2012 Rented car might not be well maintenance also.
Anyname Neutral Newbie May 24, 2012 Share May 24, 2012 Do you do a lot of driving in the day, as the higher temp experienced will tend to result in a lower O2 density with higher temp and in turn poorer combustion. You will note that the car feels more powerful at night. Try using de-ionised water for coolant, but I doubt if that will help a lot (To reduce calcification of the radiator) as the temp difference is still lower than say temperate climate. Sand may have also clogged your filters just check. Try Irdium/platinum spark plug (in 1 plug). Let us know interesting.
13177 Hypersonic May 24, 2012 Share May 24, 2012 Rented car might not be well maintenance also. Heard fuel filter might affect the fuel consumption? So could be the fuel filter didnt change at all and thus affect the consumption?!
Tcx607 4th Gear May 24, 2012 Share May 24, 2012 I oftern visit Dubai and rent a car. Mind you the petrol in Middle East is Ron 91. So, cannot compare FC apple to apple. Furthermore, 1 lit petrol is slightly above 50 cents, cannot complain already. Optimium speed should be 80km/hr. Check your air filter due to nature of dusty & sandy air.
