VAG Neutral Newbie April 14, 2013 Share April 14, 2013 (edited) Mine became slugglish at pickup and having higher FC after I accidentally did a Neutral Drop at Traffic light. Changed ATF and gone back AD twice to checkup. But all they can only said is the GB is performing normally. Millage is around 50K. Is it worth to going down outside WS for checkup? Or just let it be like tht... Edited April 14, 2013 by VAG

Gamerking168 Neutral Newbie October 16, 2013 Share October 16, 2013 U mean u overhaul yr autobox for $2.8K n u still need to do a ATF flush??? i only do ATF flush for 250 now.... 2.8k is for overhaul for gearbox, for quote only...i no do
Pisces69 6th Gear October 16, 2013 Share October 16, 2013 i only do ATF flush for 250 now.... 2.8k is for overhaul for gearbox, for quote only...i no do But yr $250 for ATF flush seems very expensive. Last time I go Khangs do ATF flush use RP synthetic ATF use abt 18 Qts only <$200. If u use normal cheap ATF, a flush sud only b abt $100 plus. RP costs abt $12/qt. Normal ATF only abt $6/lit. Now I just do the drain n fill in JB use abt 3 lit of atf (mineral = $20. Synthetic = $40) n labour only RM30. I dun do the flush anymore cos its too expensive compared to the simple drain n fill method.

Newbiee Clutched December 18, 2013 Share December 18, 2013 Sorry to hijack this post... Got a 2009 Chevy Cruze Auto 6 speed (1.6L). Some problem with its gear box When going NSH travel @ 115km/h - 130km/h for 30minutes, my gear drop from gear 6 to gear 5 (Cannot up gear only can down gear). There are 2 scenarios from here 1> Rest at rest point for 15mintues, gear return normal and can get gear 6. If continue to travel another 30-50km, gear drop to 5 again. The faster I drive, the faster the gear cok up 2> If I dont care the gear 5 and continue to drive above 110km/h, my dashboard come out all chrismas light and speedometer stuck as last seen speed. ALL uncontrollable. This one need rest 1-2hr then can return normal state... Anyone came across such problem? and find a solution?
Sxrolet 1st Gear December 18, 2013 Share December 18, 2013 Hi Bro, my colleague just had same problem with his 09 cruze 2 months ago, maybe i share with u what he did. his car has only been serviced at AD since new, and when gearbox broke down only 60+k km. AD initial quoted him $20k replace new gearbox, he went ard ask outside gearbox spcialist, all said cruze gearbox they have no stock. angry, he went back bang table at AD asking why service only with them but GB so weak. in the end AD "repair" the gb for $3k+. he also found out the GB is sealed type, meaning there was no atf change required thru its lifetime as claimed b AD, so this maybe the problem. how can ATF not deteriorate in out climate? not changing atf may kill the gb. hope his experience helps u. Its sealed but the ATF can still be changed (not flushed). There is a "bleeding hole" at the side and a capped opening at the top to pour in new fluid. Each change is 5L Dexron VI. (bleed from the side till it stopped and fill up with new oil) Total volume in gearbox+cooling lines is approx.(7+3=10L) so the change is about 50% each time. This is the best that can be done I was told. I did it 3 times consecutively at 10k from 60k km onwards just to refresh the fluid enough as the gears were not shifting well. Will likely do it every 20k thence.

Probably some other bros can share their experience? 2) GS Auto service - There is a thread about them. Review is quite bad and to avoid this shop at all cost. Also a "blackshop" as some said. 3) Autosaver - No longer the 'auto saver" anymore. Price is getting higher and higher, going to on par with AD some day. Mikelcy1963 1st Gear December 23, 2013 Share December 23, 2013 So does the gearbox shifting smoothen ?? I took over the car @ mileage 47k and now was 92k... I only changed it once at outside workshop.. Cant really feel the difference Yes. My gears were hesitant at certain times and also when shift to reverse gear, there is a momentary jerk. After the 1st change, the hesitation go away. I continue to change them the next 2 times to dilute the old fluid as they are still very dirty each time. However the momentary jerk when shift to reverse gear is still there. If your autotrans is not giving you any trouble, thats good. Just change the fluid at about 20-30k as part of your regular maintenance.
