Good Workshop To Repair Clutch and Gearbox for Auto Trans

the color will still change a bit due to deterioration over time and buildup of debris....but there's no agreed principle on whether flushing and replacing ATF is always good....some ppl believe tat beyond a certain mileage, better dun touch the ATF but juz top up....

 

If change colour means change interval too long liao. Better shorten the interval if you want it to last.

If ATF change colour, something is seriously wrong liao. Unlike engine oil, ATF should not change colour.

 

 

ATF wil change fm cherry red to brown to black. Once its black.....its been way too long since yr last atf change.

 

Usually when i drain at 20-30k km....its starting to turn brown.

 

I thinking of using synthetic atf but those i see cost too much.

 

Only C@rlube atf was abt $10/lit but now dunno where selling.

The autobox gets very very hot. Thats what destroys yr atf. Anytime u add fresh clean atf...yr autobox wil say a big thank you.

 

Synthetic is best cos it can withstand much more heat than mineral atf.

 

Now i see those synthetic atf all damm ex. I looking fr C@rlube synthetic atf. Its abt half e price of e rest.

Hi any bro change their oil seal at the auto gearbox before?

 

last 2-3 week found some ATF on the floor after overnight parking, drive to few WS, some mention in this forum and they state that is is the torque convertor oil seal. I google online and have a rough idea of what the part is.

 

drive a round to different WS in sing & JB and the following is the quote.:

 

1st WS General WS : 500-600 to change the oil seal

 

2nd WS Auto gear box Specialist :Have to overhaul, that the only way ; $2500

 

3rd WS Auto gear box Specialist : replace seal $1300, overhaul (optional) 3k plus

 

4th WS (JB) Auto gear box Specialist : replace seal RM500, will check if the oil pump inside the gearbox is spoilt, if need total RM1800 (seal + oil pump)

 

5th WS (JB) General WS: all part from me; RM150 labour to replace oil seal plus 2 at the drivedshaft.

 

6th personal friend advise: minor leak, leave it.. else you migh open can of worm :oops:

 

 

have check with socktist the seal only cost $8, while the seal at the driveshaft is $12.

the price really varies very much LOL.......

If u going to change seals...u might as well replace e filter too.

 

Labour not so ex fr the rubber gasket n filter. Same as dropping yr oil pan only.

 

If other seals spoil...then its time to do a through chk n overhaul. Mostly e rubber gasket of e oil pan wil leak first.

i'm like you i do a drain and fill every 20k km. usually its still quite clean, But as its a drain and fill approx only 2/3 to 3/4 comes out. so its still a good practice to change regularly. mileage now at 110k km and gearbox still purrs. using standard toyota ATF.

Mine same. Drain n fill. Last time i put royal purple max atf. Then become too ex so use toyota type IV.

 

Mine 7yrs old 140k km n autobox purrrs like a kitten. -_-

If only 3 yrs left just chng filter n oil pan gasket/seal. Provided no serious leak anywhere else.

 

If got small leak just top up atf regularly wil b cheaper unless u hv a big leak. Then must repair.

whole gearbox was stripped in order to replace a couple of seals.

 

no need to overhaul if old car. spent abt $500 myr excl parts bot in sg.

which part is your leak?

Mine is at the torque convertor area, base on WS need to drop down the gearbox down but dont need to strip the gearbox, change the seal externally will do.

 

Can PM the WS?

Mine is Opel Astra hatchback. Everytime change hear the car jerks and it rolls down on a slope. Ver dangerous! Can hit the car behind if the feet isn't fast enough to step on accelerator. Please help!

What about adding a AT cooler since some bro mentioned AT is hot when in operation? Will it helps to last?

its good to have one. Most often than not, its the heat of the atf that eventually kills the transmission.

 

and it dont cost much anyway...
