best value for money seems to be the toyota family sedans;

vios and altis

cheap spare parts, fuel efficient, depreciation fairly reasonable too

korean cars are quite ok especially the newer ones like the cerato forte, but probably means u have to burdened by a long loan

Since TS can stomach a 6-7K depn a year, I would suggest either a Latio(Made in Japan) or Vios/Altis.

Sunny may not appeal to most here but it's a rather decent car.

No doubt Wira has one of the cheapest depn but it's a damn old car (1993 or 1994 model) and most in the market are 1.3L MT.

I think what he meant was assuming the same loan period, and if depreciation per year is higher for korean in the first few years, you need to maintain your loan longer before you can change car, since its presumably that Korean cars has lower resale value vs Japan cars.

This is what I experience when I bought my 1st car - korean, the depreciation per year for the 1st 3 years = depreciation of my 2nd car which is Jap. In this case, why don't I drive Jap? Buying a car in Singapore is not about the cost price, its about depreciation per year.

Recently I got a good deal and purchased a 2007 accord at depreciation of 6.6k. Very good deal. Mileage on the high side but the condition is ok and performed well. Now buy 1.6 litres car not worth it . No paper value to support the price if Coe drop

That's so true. The real cost of owning a car in Singapore is depreciation + upkeep (petrol, parking, insurance, taxes, servicing). However, people often look at monthly installment + upkeep.

Red plated kimchi and certain brands of contis.

You can probably get a Citroen 1.6 for that kind of depreciation.

Civic is certainly overpriced. If you wanna get that you might as well get an accord 4-7 years the depreciation should be around the price if u include the money you get when you dispose of it.

That said , kimchi has no disposal value. Buy cheap sell cheaper

I agree. Accord is a better bet than civic in the resale market.

And kimchi is about buying low, selling low. That's about it. Don't expect much

In this climate of high COE, I'll looking to get a second hand car with low depreciation.

I'm looking for the range of 6-7k depreciation annually (I really like the civic, but depreciation is like 9k annually).

I don't mind slighty older cars, 4-6 y/o, but it should look decent, even hatchbacks are fine.

Any recommendations?

not difficult la....4.6k depreciation car also can find, if you willing to go for 7 -9 year old car.

and jap car depreciation higher lor [:p]
