STOMPers AkuNameless, andrew and Rachel all sent in pictures and reports about the accident.

 

AkuNameless was alerted of the accident when the bus he was travelling in was forced to stop.

 

He wrote:

 

"I spotted this motorbike and taxi accident.

 

"I was was taking bus 66 on the way home after having dinner and I noticed the bus was not moving.

 

"I was wondering what had happened. The driver let all the passengers alight to walk as the whole road had been blocked by the SCDF and Traffic Police.

 

"While I was walking home I saw a huge crowd crowded at an area looking at the accident.

 

"I saw one bike that was reduced to just scrap metal and a taxi that had its door dented.

 

"To all drivers and riders. Please be extra careful while riding and driving.

 

"More and more accidents are happening nowadays.

 

"Be extra careful."

 

STOMPer andrew notes the time of the incident:

 

"There was a fatal accident at Bedok Reservoir Road at around 10 plus pm.

RIP to the biker. Read frm new paper dat he kanna pinned down by the cab.

With increase population, increase vehicle population, automatically ridership goes up. More accident and breakdown will occurred.

Last night along upp East Coast Rd,also got 1 accident,1 "Pizza hut" dispatch hit a SUV turning right into a small road,rider 'fly' 10 m.

According to hwz, it's the bike hit a pedestrian, the pedestrian fell onto road, cabbie ran over him. RIP.

 

That information is FALSE. Read page 7 of HWZ.

There was no pedestrian involved.

That fella was obviously sprouting nonsense in alien lingo on twitter.

I propose:

 

1) special taxi handling course for all taxi drivers. As most taxis are very powerful, they need a course to teach them how to handle such powerful vehicles like the Sonata

 

2) a speed warning device like those found in lorries that sound an alert above 110 kmh

 

3) new drivers should put an illuminated P plate until they clock 500 hours

 

Oops sorry, wrong thread, such measures is only needed for expensive cars that get into an accident.

the barrier to entry is different...its like doing your own business....but ive read that some taxi drivers were formerly hawkers.....
