anw taxi was really unlucky to have moved off a little faster than the rest..

soon someone may start blaming the torquey engine of the sonata

To those who still think about airbag. Please be clear about the Euro Ncap test scenario

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euro_NCAP

The frontal tests are performed at 64 km/h (40 mph) into an offset deformable barrier. This is designed to represent an impact with a vehicle of similar mass and structure as the car itself.[6] The side impact tests are performed at 50 km/h (31 mph), but the side impact pole test is performed at 29 km/h (18 mph). The pedestrian safety tests are performed at 40 km/h (25 mph).

Do you think that the Ferrari is travelling at speed only 50km/h?? The test for side impact is only limit to 50km/h and anything more than that is just grey area.... so sad to say it it useless in this accident to ponder about airbags......

(edited)

Even head didn't hit the A pillar or windows, with the impact, the neck would have broken. Sonata taxi doesn't come with airbag. If I didn't remember wrongly, Superb, Camry, Touran and Merc have airbag only. Not sure about Epica, never took one before.

If I'm not wrong, Epica only has frontal side torso airbag(but larger to protect bit of the head) only, no curtain airbag even in the higher spec model. By the way, those newer Wish taxis has front, side and curtain bags. But yeah, the main point is the pillars strength. Even in those speeds, those G-force is enough to cause a concussion so airbags don't necessarily make a change.
