AXIO OR ALTIS

Where got sucks. I need a practical and economic car la. So i am looking at toyota. Personally, i like allion too. But altis 1.6 and 4 disc brake draw me in ahah.

 

just for your info. I was looking for a practical car, hokkien call Ka Da in 2008. I started lookiing at Axio (Altis was never on my mind) because of my good experience with the Hipporolla few years back. Then I considered the Allion because it was more luxurious. Ended up with a Honda Crossroad which I never regretted. Traded the Crossroad for the Octavia recently.

do take note the price of spare parts for altis and allion or JDM car is huge. Take the dampers for example, its easily 2x of that of altis.

 

various spare parts for altis are abundant while jdm are scarce .....

Then go for Axio. Given a better fuel economy, Axio should be the choice. Altis fuel efficiency is never as good as JDM counterpart. The only good thing is Altis has tachometer and optitron dash. The rest Axio wins hands down. I don't know about Axio maintainance, but for Altis, outside workshop can do for you at about $150.

1) Axio (PI car) 1500cc

Super CVT-I gearbox

110hp

FC: 13~14km/L

 

2) Altis (agent) 1600cc

4AT

110 or 120? <-- i am not sure

FC: 10~11km/L

 

Please share the pro and con of both car, thanks.

For Toyota Axio, Allion and Premio make in 2008 to 2009, there is a recall list

on the CVT gear box with chassis number starting NZE.

 

This recall exercise is only available in Japan and almost all affected vehicles in Singapore

was not fixed or recall by local PI.

There are cases of Axio failed CVT in the Axio forum. It cost about 5k to repair.

I always thought they are using similar parts. By the way how much does the altis damper cost and how much does the Axio damper or is it called shock absorber cost?

I went to see one Limited edition AXIO, with HID projector headlamp, auto climate control, tachometer, etc. But the car condition sucks. While stationary in D mode, the engine vibrate like siao. Then during pickup, the engine damn noisy, so i decide to give it a miss.

Never buy a new car from PIs. Judging by the evidence, there is a real risk you might be 'screwed' by them. Altis from BM nicely meets your twin criteria of practicality and economy.

I own the 2008 altis.

Drove the axio as a replacement car after accident for 3 days.

 

Thought they would be similar but i was wrong

- Axio is noisy ++

- the CVT engine and transmission picks up faster (the altis is a real slow poke) but i'm still not a fan of the CVT transmission after that 3 days even with the better pickup

 

Given that both are not pretty cars, both will be reliable, both have about the same cabin appearance though meters, console etc may be different

I would recommend the Altis over the axio unless the price difference is substantial (i dunno 2nd hand car pricing)

I forgot. Bodyroll of the axio is more than the altis.

 

If u are comparing to a 2007 altis, then maybe the differences are lesser.

I tried the Altis after Hipporolla (2005). Was quite bad. That's why I switched away. Axio was more true to form of Corolla. But maybe the 09 Altis has improved.

Ya i tested, altis & axio & civic 1.6. I think i will go for honda lolz. It is much a better ride, of course more expensive :(
