Please.. I witnessed a near-miss which could have caused me serious injury (and I must say the outcome was not as serious as the Ferrari case). Believe me: the last thing you will do in such situation is laugh. The cabbie was thanking his lucky stars in his own way. And if you noticed, he did not slam his brakes as people normally would, after witnessing the missile hitting the ill fated cab - which might have caused another accident if there was a car behind his cab.

Since beating red light is an offensive, the respective 3rd party may not be able to claim against Ferrari driver. Could the respective 3rd party request the court to freeze the estate of the deceased pending the outcome of the respective civil action?

Good reminder. But the ferrari driver didn't beat the red light.. He totally disregard the red light which was on for a more than 10 secs.

Had the ferrari was delayed at the upstream side, the Ferrari would have arrived at the same junction 1 second later.

N fate has it, the first taxi driver would be the one looking at his rear view mirror and saying "wo woo lucky man, Heng I speed up faster when the light turn green".

And the second taxi would have being the victim!!

many people now saying driving fast cars is dangerous, but you turn it around and look, you can say it is dangerous to take a taxi too.

 

same for your point that people say should pick up slower from traffic lights - if it was 1 sec later, people would say better pick up faster

 

I always tell people the story of this woman who was hanging clothes in her backyard. A dump truck had a punctured tire on the top of the hill, while they changed tires, the huge tire rolled down the hill and killed the woman in her own house
