A young woman was allegedly raped at a Sentosa beach last weekend.

 

The police received a distress call at 2.25am on Sunday morning (6 May).

 

An Indian national working as a part-time lifeguard at Sentosa was arrested at the scene.

 

The alleged rape is believed to have taken place at a beach pavilion not far from a party that was taking place at Siloso Beach.

 

Sentosa Leisure Group deputy director of communications Suzanne Ho said that the man is a part-time worker who had ended his work for the day.

 

It is understood that his responsibilities include patrolling the beaches and handling its daily operations.

 

Ms Ho added that the man had joined the company only last month and was scheduled for work only on an ad-hoc basis.

 

The suspect is now being detained while an investigation is being carried out.

Full facts not out yet. Can't make a judgment call.

 

No mention of forceful rape. Probably she flirted with him first, but he did not know when to stop.

 

From my experience, lots of women would like to "play play" first before enjoying hardcore at the next scheduled encounter.

 

If you were there, you just have to get prepare for all sorts of funny things that may happen. As for the Indian FT, maybe it was normal to do that in his country?? Who knows.....

Let's differentiate it once and for all.

 

FT are normally those on employment pass or PR. For employment pass, you need to have a salary of at least 3k. I do not think this guy is paid $3k as a part time lifeguard, so he can't be a FT.

 

If there is a genuine case to bash foreigners (if that kind of satisfiy some sort of imbalance or jealousy in some of you), then please do so.

 

But when you do so, please do so with some intelligence by using the right definition so that we are in the right context

Anyway agree with you..story too one sided. If the FT is proven to be at fault, then by all means can suan that fellow..

But I think sure got some hidden info from the girl behind the story...

 

A few qns came to my mind:

1) How come she was alone(parttying alone??) and hence, gave the opportunity for the FT to make use of her?

2) If kena rape most likely should be in a secluded place..

2a)If the FT bring her to one side, why she go?

2b)If she was too drunk and he dragged her to the place, how come no one stop him?

of course not. rape is rape and the single issue in rape is consent. nothing else matters.

 

While "consent" is commonly cited in rape cases, strictly speaking "will" comes to the consideration before "consent".

 

Every act done against the "will" of a person is done without "consent",

 

but an act done without "consent" is not always against her "will".

 

The difference between "will" and "consent" is real and not semantic;

 

hence, your claim that "nothing else other than consent matters" is inaccurate.

 

 

 

 

by "forceful" I meant that the circumstances leading to the incident, for example, was it a case where she did not know him whatsoever and he abducted her, put a knife on her throat and forced her legs open....

 

 

The above is rape with consent, which was obtained with physical force.

 

 

 

or was it a case where she had wandered of with him intentionally without any threat, did some things with him, but things got to far and he did not know that "no" means "no".

 

 

This is rape without consent.

 

So while there is no physical force inolved to obtained the consent,

 

the sexual intercourse is still "forced" in the sense there was no consent obtained.

In other words, both cases you listed are "forced"

 

if you had considered all resonable meanings of "force".
