Dark_flan 2nd Gear May 9, 2012 Author Share May 9, 2012 check for humps on your wheels... you can hardly see with naked eye.. you got to try to feel it instead. the galloping sound you get... does it get louder as you go faster? different road surface different noise? the noise comes from the wheels? try to pinpoint the noise source first... maybe can check wheel bearings too.... got to find a workshop to lift your whole car and spin the wheel to see if there is noise... The faster I go will be more obvious. But the disturbance is only when I off the radio but not obvious when listening.. Think I go check it out during my next service maybe 2 mths later judging by my mileage. ↡ Advertisement
Chucky2007 Turbocharged May 9, 2012 Share May 9, 2012 Have u done wheel alignment after the new shock installation?
Chucky2007 Turbocharged May 9, 2012 Share May 9, 2012 The WS mentioned alignment not really required unless the steering is off when I driving. So far dead straight. Its located at Yew Tee industrial park. WS - Eng Hup... But must order first as they do not have ready stock. Quite labour intensive for rear shocks replacement as my seats need to take out and also the my audio setup causes some inconvenience.. I post the contact number later time. Wheelalignment necessary, it may still go straight but camber angle out. Different car different angle. So go to a good wheel alignment workshop that has updated machine

Actually is not a bad product. Firm ride is my current verdict compared to the stock but better than my old gone case suspension.. no abnormality observed only the odd tyre noise.. think I get it align at my office nearby workshop.. see how.. Yuan 6th Gear May 9, 2012 Share May 9, 2012 guys, is the KYB thingy good? i installed a KYB shock and it gives me tons of problem. now squeeky noise from the suspension. I had used KYB Excel G dampers in my previous ride for more than a year or two and the feedback was firmer than stock and there was no noise at all. You may wish to get a workshop to check for you. Dark_flan 2nd Gear May 10, 2012 Author Share May 10, 2012 (edited) Now like not obvious or recover.. The workshop that done my suspension I called suggests probably not due to alignment issue as mechanically the struts is changed but the ride height remain the same, they are willing to assist me to go a test drive to check the prob.. Dark_flan 2nd Gear May 13, 2012 Author Share May 13, 2012 Apparently the issue is not being resolved. Workshop readjusted but still cam back. I believe the alignment is out due to camber angle. Any recommendation for cheap alignment in the west?
Gee 1st Gear May 13, 2012 Share May 13, 2012 (edited) squeeky noise after suspension job? happened to me too. i changed springs and the noise appeared, first only on big humps then even on smallest road bumps and ramps. i don't believe it's the new spring (nor the excel-G strut in this case) is the issue, it could be the re-assy not properly done. fix the noise and all else wheel/suspension related before doing wheel alignment. cheers. Gee 1st Gear May 13, 2012 Share May 13, 2012 just to add a bit, if galloping sound suspected came from tire, temporary replace it with spare tire and see if the noise persist. if noise gone then confirm there is problem with your tire, uneven or something else. if noise remains then confirm it's not tire/wheel issue. could be susp, arm, etc. cheers. I do not have a spare tire as I upgraded my rims so the stock spare is thrown away. Perhaps alignment is required. The last I done is 2 yrs plus or so. I asked around they mentioned could be the camber is out even if the vehicle is not veering.
