Rear Facing Child Seat

Hi all,

I was researching on child seat (from birth), and realised that rear-facing child seats are safer than forward facing ones.

My criteria:

1. Rear Facing

2. From birth until as heavy as possible (e.g. 18kg)

3. ISOfix (not LATCH)

Based on the above, I found only 1 child seat that fits the criteria (none of the child seats sold in SG fits the criteria):

DuoLogic 2 (Graco), also known as KISS 2 (Klippan).

More info about rear facing child seats at http://www.carseat.se/

Does anyone have the above child seat? (i found the above website selling it from Sweden, and does ship to SG).

Anyone has other recommendations for child seats that fits my criteria?

I got mine 3 months ago from Taka.

Brand is Evenflo, isofix, and has been using it rear facing for my baby which is now 6 months old.

I bought 1 ytd. can face front or back. up till 4yrs old. fisher price.

dunno what is isofix

Isofix are additional anchors which most countries outside Asia insist on their cars to have.

Looks like Asians value money over the lives of their children...what's new....

Maxi Cosi is a good brand too.

My boy was using Cabrio Fix till he was 1 yr old. The car seat could double up as a rocker and can be attached to most major strollers like quinny, joolz, g-elite, peg perego which means I didn't had to carry him out of the car seat and into the stroller.

From 1 yr old till now, he is using the Priori XP

What I learnt from the Swedes (lowest rate of infant mortality in car accidents) is that regardless of what features (ISOfix or not, side impact protection etc), the most important feature is rear-facing for as long as possible. their kids rear face until 4-5 years old, which none of the child seats can do in SG.

I am using Combi Prim Long,

1. Can be placed rear facing.

2. Can support from birth up to 25Kg.

3. But no ISOfix.

No complaints so far, usually my baby girl will just go to sleep after about 5mins in the seat. Was thinking that its expensive when I was looking for a car seat, but since it can support up to 25kg it should last a long time.

Got to see the child car seat specs... Britax does state the max child weight to use their seats for rear facing and then front facing..

Think for Asian cars, the back seat not much space, so as the child grow bigger and their legs longer, harder to use rear facing as their legs will get jammed up and pressing against the rear seat back cushion.. thats why as the baby grow up, need to switch to front facing for their legs to dangle comfortably...

P.S. Britax use the U.S. Latch system, similar to Isofix...

1. can rear face till what age? I understand that alot of car seats can rear face + forward face, but the weight limit for rear facing is quite low, e.g. below 10kg.

This one counted? It has latches which are fixed onto my car's ISOFIX - if that's what you are looking for?

Recaro ProRIDE

this one can rear face until 15.8kg only, and it uses LATCH system, not ISOfix rails.
